Apparently according to twitter Wordsworth is at the game ! checking out the stadium before signing ?
A great effort from our lads. Totally outplayed Chelsea in the first half but in the second half we suffered from having too many first-year and even under-16 players. We got tired before Chelsea and they took advantage. If we'd had the same depth of 18 and 17 year-olds I'm sure we'd have won this tie. The quality of football we played in the first half was fantastic, and we could have been further ahead. Very good game though.
Well, I said it would be a geat result if we could hang on. We could'nt but it sounds like we gave it our best shot, and you can't ask more than that. The future sounds bright.
Sounded as if they were very unlucky. Chelsea have spent a FORTUNE assembling youth teams and on facilities and coaching. Our first team wouldn't be able to stand up to their first team in a similar manner, so that gives us a small idea of how good some of these youngsters could be. I'm sure a few clubs will be circling around now, much like last year after old Trafford when there were rumours of Sho-Silva leaving.
There were over 100 scouts at the game yesterday, I guess Casey Palmer's agent may get a few phone calls this morning! Red Division were out in force and making a lot of noise.... not sure I like all their antics but good on 'em for last night
I was talking to one of the stewards before the game who told me there were over 100 skites at the game. I asked him twice to repeat himself then asked him what a skite was, before realising he was from Northern Ireland.
My mother, also from Norn Iron, always threatened to give me 'a skite' when I'd been misbehaving. Never understood until now.
At Chelsea for the game today. We get a few nice mentions in the programme re the youth game. They seemed impressed!
Got to meet rafa afterwards. I shook his hand and told him I thought he's doing a brilliant job. Not that he was aware of my hatred towards Chelsea.
