Yes but we swapped him for a £15m (then - probably nearer £40m now) player! That said - I'd rather have Altidore than Sinclair! And that's saying something
Good to hear but he really needs to back it up. First one I'd tie down is Kimpioka. Bigger future than Maja, potentially.
Not arguing with anybody but you have to look at our transfer dealings in context. We were invariably in trouble, fighting to avoid relegations, along with the usual problem of players preferring more 'glamorous locations' than the NE. Then there was the constant changes of Manager to contend with. Take all this into account and it's obvious that we were never going to be able to get players at the top of their game into the Club, unless like Bent, we got lucky. So we regularly had to pay over the odds for players. We also had to pat wages that would 'compensate' for the downside of coming here. So when it came to transferring these players out the chances of making any profit came under the snowballs chance in hell bracket. It's a miracle that we did it three times.
