Macron Calls Snap Elections after Far-Right Surge

Macron Calls Snap Elections after Far-Right Surge
    Last updated 24 minutes ago
French President Emmanuel Macron called for snap legislative elections after his centrist alliance suffered a significant defeat in the European Parliament elections, with Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally party winning 31.5% of the vote. This decision comes as a response to the surge of far-right parties in the EU elections, particularly in France and Germany, although the centrist majority in the European Parliament remains intact.

    You've, unwittingly, called it.
    It's just a merry-go-round.

Folks, we are manipulated and you're naive to think anything else.

It wasn’t unwitting, just an observation, people get fed up of one system and therefore vote for another hoping for improvement.

You can call it a merry-go-round, I call it democracy, the alternative is a dictatorship whereby we wouldn’t get a choice.

In much the same way i say “i told you so” to all the people taken in by Boris’ lies last time.

I feel sorry for all those people who actually believe we’ve been lead well over the last 14 years, or even lead in the best interests of normal working people.

BTW you are often wrong but just don’t accept it, that’s actually not a strength but a weakness. As individuals we learn and grow by learning by our mistakes. Individuals that fail to recognise their mistakes become stuck in their ways and fail to grow.

Some people still even hail Brexit as a brilliant success AshtonRed <laugh>

We are certainly in the smelly brown stuff and I don’t think either sticking with Sunak or changing to Starmer will fix it.

The alternative is not, as you say, 'a dictatorship'.

The alternative is honest and capable people in government........

Putting the Torries back in , in your delightful analogy, would be like carrying on eating the stuff that gave you the sh!ts in the first place.

Suella Braverman Pushes for Tory-Reform UK Alliance
    Last updated 38 minutes ago
Suella Braverman, the former Home Secretary, has suggested that the Conservative Party should welcome Nigel Farage and his party, Reform UK, to unite the right. Braverman believes there is not much difference between the policies of the Tories and Reform UK. However, this suggestion has sparked a debate among politicians and the public, with some arguing that such a move would be detrimental to the Conservative Party and others supporting the idea of a united right. Nigel Farage has not shown interest in joining the Conservative Party, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has distanced himself from the idea.

Reform UK: Farage's Challenge to Political Establishment
    Last updated 1 hour ago
The discussion revolves around the upcoming UK general election, focusing on the Reform UK party led by Nigel Farage. Many users express support for Reform UK, believing it to be a viable alternative to the Conservative Party and a way to challenge the political establishment. Concerns are raised about the potential consequences of a Labour government, particularly regarding women's rights. There is a call for unity among those who support Reform UK, urging others to vote for the party to bring about change and protect their views.

… and voting Reform would be like eating the contents of your soiled pants, putting the filthy garment around your neck, and wearing the tie as a thong……

……. And expecting things to improve <laugh>

That would ensure Labour stay in power for a decade or more. The only way for tories to come back anytime soon is to marginalise the loony right.

    What loony right?

Right wing politics in the UK is not extreme. The extremes have no relevance.
