I can only go to a few matches because of my job, I remember being devastated I had to give up my season ticket. But now I enjoy the matches I go to and still feel involved. I've been severely affected by the price hike (because of change to concessions), but I want Saints to progress and price increases are inevitable. We are no longer going to watch League 1 matches. Remember how dear prices were in the Prem. What we want is to see the progress we're paying for.
I live in Northampton now and am still considering a season ticket for me and my son; I may just leave them with my Dad for when we can't go. Shame his is only free in the chapel as he'd rather be in the Northam or close to it in the kingsland.
im heading off to uni next year and was looking forward to dropping back to a few matchdays had blackpool, cardiff and leeds in mind. but it seems now even with student prices they will be to much. freezing prices as they did last year has only meant to 2 years increase in 1 summer seems a shame because i think theres many who will be now priced out.
In my opinion fans being priced out shouldn't be inevitable. If I was in charge of anything I would impose maximum ticket prices at different levels (say £25 in the premiership, £20 in the championship etc). I know people will say that football is a business, but it isn't in many respects. For instance, football fans are highly unlikely to switch to a competitor if prices go up too much. Each football club is therefore effectively a monopoly. In a capitalist system monopolies are often controlled in terms of prices (e.g. rail companies) to prevent profiteering. And if that means wages go down and Ruud Van Nistelbooy goes to Spain instead of England then so what.
I can afford to renew so I'm not going to spout off too much but I think it's too much. My instant reaction was 'bloody hell, can I afford that?'. Heaven help us if we achieve the boards/clubs goal of premier league and champions league. I'll have to go and support pompey in league 1!
I got away with getting a junior season ticket last season even though I was 17, some of the people at the ticket office are idiots! Sadly I doubt I will get away with it this year, but you never know!
This is the problem. I turn 17 in August so I don't know whether I'll get away with it if I purchase the ticket in July.
Which means you are sixteen on day of Renewal so you are OK! It just so happens that you score on this occasion and legally too. So count your lucky stars. My grandson's mate is not so lucky. He was praying that the tickets would come on sale earlier than that. He is 17 on the 28th June, what a bummer, mind you he is very philosophical. He said "it is the way the cooky crumbles". In reality you gained he didn't.............
Depending on the price, two things can happen: A) £450 a s/t, people moan about how expensive this is, club uses this money to invest in the squad to help us reach the Premier League. Some people will be priced out, but the club will, in theory, progress. B) £350 a s/t, not as much money invested into the club so people then moan about spending £350 on "watching a load of ****", and "buying dross" which people has accused, wrongly in my opinion, of NA. The club can't keep every single fan happy, but many are very fickle in regards to wanting the club to spend substantial amounts on new players, but are unwilling to pay money for season tickets which allows the club to invest this money in the playing squad.
