The Captain was a great showman and okay on bass, but an atrocious guitarist. When Brian James left The Damned it was all downhill for them. I’ll give you Steve Hillage though.
For me I think of Hendrix more for his playing style, but aside from that he was also a left handed player playing a right handed guitar. So in affect he played the guitar upside down. Just a shame the cameraman didn't have a clue what he was filming. I'm no great fan of his, but he demonstrates people can adopt their own style and it's not to everyones taste, but they need to be themself. You can look at any guitar video on Youtube and I'll guarantee you, even if you have half a dozen videos of the same piece, everyone has adopted their own take and style on it.
That's why I put Wilco Johnson in my top 5. Not necessarily a great musician, but he had a style all his own…
A lot of top guitarists / vocalists / bands copied Nile Rodgers or more so that he wrote for them. I always got left with the impression he was the maestro.
You can kiss my ****ing arse for all I care. Hendrix was ****, no wonder he topped himself, the only decent thing he did.
*Wilko ****s sake you can't even get his name right which confirms you are full of ****ing horse manure, 5 week old horse manure at that.
Tom Scholz of Boston. Absolute perfectionist and king of mordents. More Than A Feeling takes some beating.
