It contained a few remaining drops of my imported Brandy. I also made sure he got a faceful of exhaled smoke from my Calabash, utter philistine.

I've recognised a few from films. According to Wiki their music has been used in tons of films. Strange that I never connected it with a band, just thought it was film score ... <doh>

Wow! I just had a look on wiki and there're loads! The friend who got me into them actually played me one of their songs and said that it sounded like it should be in Pirates of The Caribbean...turns out it actually was! <laugh>
I always assumed the film scores were just an employed orchestra or something (unless it's actual songs i know)...well that's a revelation!

Beyond parody. Ridiculous vocals, a tempo change every 15 secs, finger-tapping fretwankery galore, completely unnecessary double-kick drum in the slow parts, not the merest hint of a 'hook' at any stage. These boys have got it nailed. <ok>

For me the musician who has had the most influence on me is John Frusciante; he is easily one of the most talented and purist musicians in the world, he is hands down the best guitarist alive (I do not care if others might be better technically (although that could still be disputed) it is his passion and feeling he plays with what does it for me, plus the way he improvises live), and add to that he is a great singer and writer. He was also the reason why I started playing the guitar.
