A lot of good points: MJ's tactics were spot-on, pushy midfield, Bobby hold-up play, Ruiz getting used to the Prem, Mark relaible as usual, superb Bairdhinho clearance - And the best well made own-goal of the season from another lovely Murphy flighted pass to Riise. (Although, I would imagine an inquest on who was supposed to track Vermalen into our penalty box). Another well deserved point, on top of last week's draw at Sunderland (don't anyone complain about the number of draws, please). All encouraging.
Good to see that the combo of Ruiz, Dembele and Dempsey worked well, giving Etuhu who had a good game, more options to pass too, rather than just his normal sideways pass to a marked Murphy. Usual excuses about Arsenal being tired, not on their game, were trotted out by the MOTD team, but Wenger (surprisingly) gave some credit to Fulham, although again it wasn't shown on MOTD, just like Zamora's disallowed goal (but Arshavins was). Walcott was the only one who really gave the back 4 problems, and RVP was only given a few chances to influence the game. Murphy shackled Arteta in midfield. Another tough game against Liverpool, after a trip to Twente, wonder if we don't get the win if the media will mention how tired we after our trip, or will it be about the great King Kenny.
Reports of RVP being shackled (I didn't see the game, only MOTD) are very encouraging. We've not been our usual defensive fortress this season, and to keep an in-form striker of RVP's calibre quiet harkens back to the old Fulham. COYW!!
Agree with everyone - great performance and lots of positives. Would you not agree with me though that Zamora's off side goal should have at least been shown on MOTD. From my seat I could not see it and it must have been marginal. I gave up a few extra pints in order to get home and see it again on MOTD and was very suprised that it was not shown. Even the papers today don't mention it - it did happen didn't it ? Perhaps it was a mile off side I just don't know but surely it was an integral part of the game.
It was really marginal, less margin than Arshavin's. It was a great move that could have ended the match there and then!
It looked v close from where I was sitting, COYW, but even if it wasn't its rubbish and biased of MOTD not to show it - as you say it was an important part of the game and showed that we were in control for a large part of the second half.
thought we'd get spanked - i'll write that every week. We played much better in the 2nd half we really took the game to Arsenal. Better.
