Redknapp said he knew he'd made a mistake when he arrived...his heart was never in it. Wouldn't have been surprised if the team picked up on that....just a few percentage points down can make the difference between survival and relegation.

The old memory banks serve you well.....May 1989 and believe it or not Saints need a few points to make sure they beat the drop.

Always liked this kit. It probably breaks all manor of fashion rules, but there is something about it.

The Denmark kit is probably the most hated Saints kit amongst home supporters but I always really liked it. It was different, and it was good different, not bad different, imo. Of course back then if you professed to liking any Saints home kit that didn't have the rigid stripe formation you could have been restrained on a burning pyre and floated out on Southampton Water.

I thought the last time we were officially top of the table was when Keegan played one of his seasons with us. In that season we were the team with the longest stay at the top. Over 3 months, if memory serves. Also won 1-0 away at Anfield while Liverpool were in their absolute pomp. Steve Moran scoring and making Alan Hansen look slow and stupid, which was dead easy for a little spark like Moran, but few others could do it.
