Where to start... Everton 4 Newcastle 0 in the first game of the 88/89 season, every time Boumsong touched the ball, every Bramble air-kick, Cacapa against Portsmouth in 2007, Gillespie's injury at Old Trafford in 1995, West Ham 8 Newcastle 1 in 1986, Wayne Fereday, every game when Colin Suggett was caretaker manager, Beardsley signing for Liverpool, Les Ferdinand signing for Spurs, Albert Luque, Maric with a clear sight of goal in the FA Cup final against Man Utd and toe-ending it weakly past the post, Michael Owen wandering around the Villa Park pitch wondering what colour helicopter to buy next while we were getting relegated, every Frank Pingle 'effort' at goal, Ian Rush, the look on Bowyer's face after the fisti-cuffs with Dyer; an expression that would have terrified Satan, Dyer's 'Riverdance' demonstration on the goal-line at the Nou Camp, Mike Hooper laughing on the bench when Newcastle conceded a goal, Mike Hooper charging out of his goal in the FA Cup against Luton and wondering where the ball went (John Hartson had scored and celebrated before Hooper worked out where the ball had gone), Billy Askew's impression of the invisible man in the play offs against Sunderland, Geremi being the first player to limp ONTO the pitch, Sam effing Allardyce, Bill McGarry, losing in a quarter-final and a semi-final in the same week, both 4-1... I need to stop or I'll have to start supporting Sund... hang on... maybe not.

    Wimbledon Away - League Cup!

Awful journey, no Andy Cole - he'd walked out (along with half the team so it seemed), empty ground, uncomfortable night and even worse train home next day with sore heads. Loads of money wasted on a non-event - typical toon away game for many years!

Usually go to the away games on the supporters coach, at least you travel with like minded people so you've always got somebody to talk to to pass the time away on the long journeys.

Used to go on the coach - then by car to spend a day drining with the locals - but normally used train for London.
Don't get away now - family etc plus the way games eep being changed, you can't afford to risk booking train.

Frightening how many of the matches above I've been too - plus lots more.
Everton 4-0 stands out too- new signings, lots of optimism and after 40 seconds we're 1 down. Cottee hat=trick and relegation!
Listening to Play off semi against the great unwashed was a nightmare too! - as was watching Charity Shield in Sorrento on Honeymoon, surrounded by a load of plastic reds!

Oh, now I'm starting to remember the good old days (where we used to be fanatics AND supporters)!!

As you say, booking a train journey in advance to save a few £'s could be costly if the TV companies decide they want to show it. The fans come second, if that!

Never mind what you were thinking, what had you been drinking?

Must have been a bit strong.

I was talking to some Jocks in a local pub after we'd just signed him and they were laughing their heads off about it.

    Boom Boom!!

1970 Fairs Cup quarter final second leg against Anderlecht.

We lost away 2-0 and were three up with the ref about to blow for full time and they scored with the last kick of the match to go through on away goals.

Lol, those were the days. I was there in the Popular End at the front near to the Leazes End.

If my memory isn't letting me down ( again ) I seem to remember Ollie Burton losing the ball on the half way line and Anderlecht just going straight through us and Van Himst ( their star player )scoring. Could be wrong but then again I think I'm going senile so who cares!!!

I remember his debut against the giants of non-league, Yeading. He received a pass from Bramble just in front of the 18 yard box and his face kind of crumbled in on itself with fear and he wildly lashed it out of play. The first and last time he managed to clear his lines.

Is it football or is it NUFC or is it both?

Two threads, one dealing with highs and the other dealing with lows and the lows has significantly more hits and entries than the highs!!!!
