If we’re talking one player from any era it would have to be The Beat for me,I reckon he could have played in just about any outfield position and put most players of the 2010s to shame.
Totally agree PCT, I would always drive the 300 mile round trip to watch the likes of Gio, Counago & Townsend!
I think Gio represents all that could have been, yet is the embodiment of all that has been wrong with the club over the last 12 years. He was talented, young and possibly a realistic signing. In those 8 games he became our talisman. He never did anything wrong so we had no time to let his honeymoon expire, but the club seemingly didn't even try to sign him from a club who clearly never saw a future for him. So we look back on him through the eyes of nostalgia for pre Keane days when we seemed to be heading in the right direction.
