My great uncle was a staff sergeant in the British Army, and he served in Northern Ireland.

He might have killed some of your family members.

My granddad did a family tree on my mother's side of the family, and it turns out some of my ancestors came from a Danish noble family called the 'House of Estridsen'. Apparently, some of the nobles settled in Yorkshire during Canute's conquest in the 11th century and became Jarls (Earls), and I'm descended from that branch. The other branch of the noble family that stayed in Scandinavia were Kings of Denmark up until the 15th century.

Great Uncle sank a U boat in the North Sea in 1917 according to the local rag.He was awarded a DSM but my research fails to show any loss of one in the area.Beginning to smell a rat here.
