City weren't even in the first division when I first went and Chelsea were struggling down at the bottom.

At the end of that particular season City dropped down to the second, with Coventry putting on a late run of form

I remember reading a while back how, while the pundits loved Coventry's annual escapes, the fans bloody hated it - because spending 2/3 of the season watching your team lose becomes really grating after a while

Lived in an 'extended' family in Streatham. Father had passed years before and an uncle was a lifelong Spurs fan, so the direction was there from an early age.
Last minute, told I was going to WHL and headed off on 133 bus to Liverpool St and then train. No Vikky line then. . .
For the life of me I could have sworn the result was 2-0 until I checked it for this post. Strange how memories plays tricks. ..
Upper East Stand seats, right up in the God's - been now I wouldn't have seen a thing

But never looked back.....few more games following season, then my mum bless her took me along for 2 seasons before I headed off on my tod. And always stood above the tunnel for 4 seasons before moving to the Shelf.

My first match was v Stoke 1972 WHL Park Lane End my sister took me. Stoke were decent then had Gordon Banks in goal it was not long after his car accident and we gave him a real welcome. Didn't last long we scored twice in the early minutes ended up winning 4-3 and i was swept away in the surge of excited fans - started near the back ended right next to the pitch wall. From that day i was was hooked even though i didn't go to many games due to not having enough money still didn't dull my love for Spurs and they are still doing my head in being Spursy and all that!

If my memory serves me right didn't the evening news or standard whatever it was called bring out 2 editions on a Saturday night the early edition having reports of games up to half time then the later edition had full match reports.

Vivid memory of waiting outside my local papershop for the full classified results edition - it was the build up of excitement to see if Spurs had won and the gooners hadn't .

First ever match was at Villa Park away in 1996 I think. My student housemate was a Brummy and organised it. We lost 2-1 I believe so it wasn’t the best way to see Spurs the first time.

I started going to the Lane shortly after. Almost always the West Lower stand.

The most memorable game was a 3-2 win over Everton when I took my best mate to his first ever game. We were 2-0 down at half time. A Ginola inspired second half comeback saw us win an incredible game. The away fans to my right were seething. One even threatened to smash my car up on the way home stuck in traffic, until the cops stepped in. Never liked Everton fans after that.

I was 12 and went with my friend who was 13. We both lived in Hampshire so I met him at Aldershot station and travelled to Waterloo, then on the tube to Liverpool Street and on to White Hart Lane. I was very small for my age so couldn't see very much even from close to the front at the Paxton Road end, but Jimmy Greaves scored both our goals in a 2-1 win. The match featured David Jenkins making his debut after joining from Arsenal. I watched a few other matches he played in and he is definitely the worst ever player I've seen at Tottenham.

I was 8. I remember it being a freakishly hot day. Mum and dad had planned a surprise day trip to London. We did the standard tourist landmark visits in the morning. They hadn’t told me about the game, or the fact they were planning on buying me a spurs shirt of my choice. I couldn’t quite believe it when they told me.
I was quite young, so I can’t remember the finer details of the game. However, being that age, I hadn’t anticipated the atmosphere at a football match. And it didn’t disappoint at the lane. It was like nothing I’d never heard or seen before, and it made up for the worlds tallest man that was sat in the seat in front of me!

Jenkins was a swop deal for Jimmy Robertson , le arse got the better of that deal

Was only the Evening News and the first Saturday night edition had the F/T results as a stop press! column across the bottom, so you had to turn the paper round to read it.

My first game (start as you mean to go on) was the League Cup final in 1973. Ralph Coates scored the goal as we beat Norwich in the final. As I was only 8 years old, I don't remember much of the game, only that we were behind a big post, but a good view after swivelling around it to see the game.

Anyone ever go to Liverpool away in the 70s major punch ups in Stanley park and if the police caught you fighting the opposition fans they used to handcuff you both together round the same tree and release you when the game finished
