He has probably got too big to play in our theatres now. Last time we saw him, about 18 months ago with his orchestra, we had to go to Nottingham Trent Arena. Was not happy though as the missus would not let me go to the Derby game first before the gig. I told her we would have plenty of time to get there after the match had finished but she was having none of it. That was the game we won in the freezing conditions 2-1 when Holt jumped into the snow!

I assume you mean stand up and not humour like Spike for instance.
I always loved Chic Murray when I was a youngster. For those of you not familiar, he was a Scotsman with a dead pan look and a miserable outlook. He told one liners in the Bob Hope style.
In a different style, the American Steve Wright with his one line outlooks on life amuse me. My favourite of his is that he bought some powdered water but doesn't know what to mix with it or If you write the word "monkey" a million times, do you start to think you're Shakespeare?

    Larry David, genius!

Surprised Kevin Bridges hasn't been mentioned, I think he is hilarious. Old school but if you class as stand up Tommy Cooper was brilliant.

It's a difficult question really, personally more of a sitcom fan anyway, hence why I do love Larry David and Ricky Gervais's sitcoms too.

    Ricky Gervais's "Extras" was hilarious!

Loved this one when he met David Bowie in a random encounter in a bar...

I have to say I love comedy it's just about the only thing I watch on telly!!! To pick one is too hard tho. One thing we are blessed with in Britain is comedy talent shame the same can't be said about our football team. Can't pick a clip as wouldn't have the slightest clue how too, but my faves in the modern era range from frankie boyle to sarah milican and in opinion are all great. Gotta be one thing we are the best in the world at!!!

Frankie Boyle is good.Slight thread drift:The unfunniest comedian. For me it has to be Michael McIntyre.I just don't get it.

Michael McIntyre is absolutely dreadful and why on earth anyone thinks he's in any way funny is frankly beyond me. I think people who like him are the same people who still actually think Labour caused our economic woes, that Boris Johnson is 'hilarious', Harry Redknapp is the 'salt of the earth', that Simon Cowell and David Walliams actually are in heterosexual relationships and that Gary Barlow is a songwriting genius <doh>

I personally don't find any of Russell Howard, Russell Kane, John Bishop, Frankie Boyle or most of the other lot of the Live At The Apollo lot even remotely funny, and I'm sure if people actually stopped to listen to what they're saying rather than just nod and laugh along like the sheep they are then they'd see straight throught them as well <ok>

Hey steady on! Poor old Warky thinks Labour caused our economic woes.He probably thinks Dave and George are busy sorting it all out instead of lining the pockets of their Eton pals and their crooked Pre-Raphaelite wives!

If we started a thread like this all the comedians that are listed here would appear on that one too as comedy covers all forms and meets the needs of all people. There is something for everybody out there but you can't please all the people all the time! What one person thinks as funny, another will think is absolute pap!

Do you not like stand up whatsoever then or just the BBC comedians?

Personally can't think of anyone worse then Michael McIntyre but Sarah Millican and that Shappi woman, I have no idea who said to them they were funny. Probably took their parents saying their funny and then tortured us with their drivel. McIntyre is an absolute T*at, I seriously do not understand what is remotely funny about the guy, I would rather gouge my eyes out than watch him.

Got to say, I don't actually find some of the comedians that F and blind all the time that funny.

A few years ago, I was offered a free ticket to see Ken Dodd at Hunstanton. I went, only because I had nothing better to do. I was so glad that I went. He was brilliant!

Nothing blue, slightly mischivous perhaps, and he went on and on and on.
I was so impressed, I even offered to pay my mate for the ticket afterwards.

Trouble is, I find so many of todays so called funny men, so far up their own arses that they think they speak for everyone.
Being used as a youngster to stand up comedians, when the new breed of "alternative" comedians appeared, it seemed a refreshing change. Now its gone the other way and I would rather just hear jokes. The Dara O'Briain, Steve Coogan, Paul Merton, Frankie Boyle, Russell Howard little clique seem to think they are OK just to slag off someone or something else.
    How about this one.
Frankie Boyle you are the ugliest four eyed ****ing north of the border sheep stealing cnut I've ever seen.
I suppose that clique would take me to court for defamation.
