Right I'm going to take a punt on this one. I have only picked player I've seen play. 1 Roger Freestone. 2 Gary Stanley. (Just edges Rangel) 3 Dzemal Habziadic. 4 Tommy Smith. 5 Ante Recovich 6 John Conforth 7 Robbie James (Legend) 8 Alan Curtis 9 Bob Latchford 10 Scott Sinclair 11 Nathan Dyer Subs. 12 Dave Stewart 13 Ian Callahan 14 Lee Trundle 15 Steve Thornber 16 Angel Rangel
Jimmy , Ante , Tommy, Alan, Robbie....well done that man !!! I must also agree that Gary Stanley and Bob Latchford were the biz in what was a very talented squad at the time.
I've been waiting for people to post Jimmys real name so I didn't spell it wrong Freestone Rangel Habziadic. Williams Coleman Curtis Sinclair Bodde Dyer Latchford Borini
Toshack's secret weapons when we were promoted to the old division one. Their understanding confused the hell out of teams and some say accounted for our initiall rise to the to the top of the league. I'm sure I read somewhere that upon his arrival from former Yugoslavia Jimmy was unaware what double yellow lines on the road meant and used to park his car anywhere. When he returned he used to sign the multitude of parking tickets thinking they were from autograph hunters!
Jimmys real name is Džemaludin Hadziabdic, but he was called Dzemal for short ...lol We couldnt even manage that so called him "Jimmy". Wiki states that he is also known as "Jamal Haji" in UAE where he has / is coaching. This at least sounds a bit like his real name (Dzemal / Jamal : Hadzi / Haji). Where did "Jimmy" come from though? Does anyone know? Seems every club he goes to creates a new name for him. Not surprising really. "Jimmy" is the best nickname though.
