Andre Villas Boas will probably be on the market in the summer.

Who ever itis, he needs to drop the old guard and take all youngsters.
We need to look forwards not backwards.

    "Walker
    Smalling
    Jones
    Cole

    Parker
    Wilshere
    Rodwell

    Young
    Rooney
    Walcott"

Drop Rooney and replace him with Bent or someone else with a decent record of finishing (Defoe?), and I wouldn't disagree strongly. I'm not convinced that Sturridge or any of the younger players are really decent finishers. I'd probably also go with Andy Johnson ahead of Walcott, but Walcott has looked better lately, so it's close. Lennon's been looking good, actually, but Capello, I think has decided he doesn't like him. (The reason, IMO: at the world cup nobody had any ideas and kept giving the ball to Lennon, who kept beating his man, and producing crosses which, it's true, weren't very good. But the problem was everyone else not having a clue, not Lennon, who, unlike the rest of the team, was doing something right.)

I'd also think seriously about Lescott-Jagielka. I don't much like either one, but they have experience together and played very well against Spain.

Fair enough. All about opinions. Hopefully Walker will continue to play & have a fantastic season. Richards is a bad egg who rarely get a game through form or injuries.

I cant help thinking your team would get overrun in the midfield against the top european teams @ Euros. None of which we have played competitively since being hammered by the Germans.
Tony Daley... I mean Walcott running fast nowhere, the untried Rodwell & Powderpuff Wilshere with just Parker trying to stop the onslaught!
If Gerrard gets fit & hits form again I would build the team around him again. Let Milner and Parker do the grafting.

Both Correct about Barry being nowhere near though.. and for being Tottenham fans.

Rodwell is the size of a house, no-one will be running through him. Walker, Sturridge, Wellbeck, Jones and Smalling are pretty much untried too, but all these young players have to start somewhere.

A few years ago, I'd agree with you about Gerrard, but he's not the player he was and I think it's time to move on. Wilshere isn't a bruiser, but hea is our best technical player in midfield and is the closest thing we have to a Xavi, Iniesta or Fabregas, so he'd be a cert for me when he's fit.

Swap Young for Johnson and Defoe/Wellbeck for Bent and that is a fair team.

I think reading this thread just confirms how poor our squad really is. Seriously how many world class players do we NOW have and not hasbeens?

    Rooney (just), Cole, Hart?.......

Our backline of Terry and Rio are past it and apart from Cole, none of them are top draw. Our midfield looks quite ordinary and i can't see where the goals will be coming from up front. Rooney has been utter crap this season and is banned for the first few games anyway.
