Here's mine: Gk Hart Gk Forster Gk Foster RB Clyne RB Walker Cb Smalling Cb Stones Cb Shawcross Cb Dann Lb Rose Lb Cresswell CM Dier CM Drinkwater CM Noble CM Wilshere Lwf Vardy Lwf Sterling Cam Alli Cam Barkley Rwf Welbeck Rwf Walcott Cf Kane Cf Sturridge I see seven positions (in red) as being up for grabs where we're a bit thin so have to call up subpar players. No doubt Stodgson will go with our world class elite of Milner, Rooney et al to fill those gaps. Wilshere, Walcott, Sturridge are in purely for impact sub purposes. I suppose the likes of Rashford, Lingwood, Antonio could be just as much of bench impact player(s) though. Tough one.
I have to say that after watching yesterday's game, I'd be tempted to consider Andy Carroll. It's a big risk as he's injury prone. But give him the right kind of service and he's virtually unstoppable. And he offers a completely different option to any other English striker. How his super aggressive style would go down with continental officials is a big concern though!
He is, without doubt, the best aerial threat we have. As you say, if you give him the right service he'll be lethal.
Carroll isn't consistent enough. He did well yesterday, granted. Before yesterday, no one would have picked him. Not for me.
He would have been sent off if he played under a euro ref yesterday though. Not worth the risk given his fitness and style of play.
Exactly. We don't even really play that style and don't have good enough wide players to knock it in to him. Anyway to set your team up to play to Carroll's strengths is pure madness. No way should a team be centered around Andy Carroll FFS
