To the bottom bit in bold: Then you've either watched very few of our games this season, or have a conveniently short memory. 'Off the top of my head', below are some games in which he's either scored first for us or secured victory: Norwich away QPR away Mansfield away - second goal in a 2-1 win. Hearts home - equaliser which saw us through to the group stages. Against Man City at home he put us 2-1 up. Nothing he personally could do about the equaliser. Also note that versus Everton away he created one, scored one and had last minute winner wrongly chalked off for offside. Some other notable goals: Newcastle home - equaliser Sunderland away - equaliser Chelsea away - equaliser Fact of the matter is, it isn't his fault if our defence make a careless error. And if you're going to try to dismiss some of these results with 'oh, well X scored too, so you'd have won anyway', you obviously don't recognise the importance of the first goal in setting up the rest of the game. And also, you've contradicted yourself - "I think it's also largely to do with Suarez making the difference for Liverpool" and "He was scoring some important goals earlier in the season" versus "I can't off the top of my head think of a single game where his goals have actually been crucial in securing a victory this season." NB: Also notice that I'm not suggesting this qualifies Suarez for the top 10 in world football, merely pointing out the flaws in your argument.
Bale and Rooney in the top ten players in the world? That has got to be some sort of sick joke. If we are going by current form Ngoo is in the top five.
this is a very interesting but difficult question as it poses several issues. Do you just load it with forwards or is it about who;s most influential or vitalfor a team and what elvel are they playing at. for me 1. Messi - there can be no argument, anyone arguing this is a manc freak. 2. ronaldo - this is easy he is not as good as messi but is close. again to argue he's worse means you are a scouse freak. After this point its all very much of a level and its hard to pick out one over the other in many cases. Robin Van persie has got to be on the list, Xavi, iniesta and alonso also. For 7,8,9 and 10 it gets harder. I think bayern need a mention but muller for me is no where near. I'd put Schweinsteiger and robben and put Falcao in there with Nuer as the single keeper I'd not put suarez on it but frankly the bull cap out of swarbs about the guy is hilarious and so obviously biased.
Actually it was poor phrasing on my part. I meant scored crucial goals to give you victory in big games. He's obviously contributed to victories, but as I said that has usually been in games where you have dominated and won with ease (Norwich, QPR) or should have won with ease (Mansfield, QPR). He has made a difference, but his tangible contribution has dropped off a lot as the season has gone on, and it's hard to think of a time when Suarez has really bailed you out, or turned around a game for you single handedly. In contrast there are several times he has missed presentable chances when you needed goals or inspiration. When you compare it to Bale's recent performances for Spurs when he's won them games pretty much on his own, Rooney against City when we were under the cosh and he scored two vital goals with his only two chances and against Fulham when we were struggling to a draw, and Michu against Arsenal where he scored two in the last couple of minutes it just seems to me like Suarez hasn't contributed enough at vital moments to be considered one of the top ten in the world (not saying either of those three have either). Definitely one of the top five in the PL, but not the world imo.
Bale and Rooney being in the top ten is a sick joke but Suarez is a shoe in. Of course, angry Scouse logic!
If you don't think Suarez is in the top 10 players in the world. Your either one of two things: a) biased against him or b) a person who knows nothing about football. If you asked every pundit working in British media who are the best 10 players in Europe I guarantee nearly everyone of them will have Suarez in their list. You know it and I know it, so lets put the fact he pisses you off for different reasons and stick to looking at his undisputable world-class ability as a footballer. This forum and some of the idiots on here who know **** all about football never ceases me to amaze, although may'be its not just this forum as I've just had an e-mail telling me that the only player who get in Swans starting team is Suarez and even he isn't a definte as he plays a similar position to Michu. Jesus.
thats too much of a climb down "big games" come on swarbs man up and admit the guy is one of the top performers i nthe prem without question. 10 ten in the world isn't determined by "in the prem" though so thats why i can't put bale in there.. scoring v west brom isn't like what could put RVP up there... ie socring i nthe cl. bale will instantly be in everyone's top 10 when he moves to real.
suarez, rvp and bale in the top 10, rooney around the 15th mark and michu around the 20th mark. rooney has slipped down the rankings this season while bale has climbed the table, Messi is out on his own by a clear mile but even he will drop down the table eventually. suarez has climbed the table just short of rvp who has carried on where he left off at arsenal, A new player who could make an impact into the top ten in a couple of seasons is michu but he will need a big club to do that,
