<doh>Oh yeah that was it, I remember there being something because he had to live with Kevin Nolan at the time. Okay nonetheless he kept Joey Barton quiet which is no mean feat!

He also assaulted his girlfriend and his Land Rover got set on fire because he got let off. Then soon knew his cards were being called and left for Liverpool.

Yeah I misjudged that comment, but nonetheless think Hughton is a good candidate.

Voted for Poyet, but I'm starting to wish I hadn't...

Hughton's got four Championship manager of the month awards - that's more than Lambert.

He also beat Newcastle's rivals, Sunderland, 5-1 - that's the same scoreline Lambert managed against 1p5wich.

And Birmingham scored 14 goals in the 85th minute or later last season - the same amount Norwich managed in our promotion season - and who doesn't enjoy a last minute winner?

Well , that's all very interesting, assuming what you say is true, although
didn't Ian Holloway (not that I'm advocating him) do that but without the long ball stuff and yet no-one is clambering after him.

He just seems to me to be a dull option, lets get someone with a bit more WOW factor, who can get some interested parties here.

I am sure many peoples hearts don't enjoy the last minute goals :cheesy:

but seriously quite interesting the late goals thing. I think it's a mix of fitness and wanting to do well for manager. Interesting he has a good record of them aswell.

good luck trying to find that manager. if you find him and he's willing to come to norwich city and work with a wage cap of around £20k then we'll all be very pleased <ok>

or we can get the best man for the job.

As a Newcastle fan I hope you get Hughton as you are a good club, Hughton deserves to be in the Premier League and he did wonders at Newcastle. People can say he had the players but so did West Ham and we got promoted a lot easier than they did with Mr I'm future Real Madrid manager. Also he beat Aston Villa 6 - 0 which I'm sure you guys would love to do.

<laugh> yeah, of course! saw a great comment about holloway yesterday. a city fan said the reason they didn't want him was cos he had a daft accent <doh>

thankfully, the norfolk accent is one of the classy ones!

on a side note, i'd ignore the bookies skinman - they are going on betting patterns - they know as much as we do. it strikes me that mcnally is not going to jump straight in and appoint our new manager. i think it'll be a couple of weeks away at least.

EDIT. just seen the odds - to say hughton is a clear favourite would be an understatement!! <laugh>

there are numerous rumours flying about that hughton is in norfolk today for talks.

    don't buy it myself.

i don't think we'd have settled on our preferred target already but who knows. i still wonder if mcnally will produce someone we've not expected at all <ok>

I think Houghton will be his no.1 target, the "top Euro" manager smoke screen was just to put the lower league managers rumours to bed!

could be. he's a canny man. i'm in no doubt that he already had a shortlist in place for when lambert left. i suppose i'm a little tentative because you never really know with mcnally! he could surprise us all!!

I know Mcnasty said it wouldn't matter if the next manager haddn't managed in the prem before as long as they had been in the top leagues in Europe, but i still feel with it being 2nd season syndrome and all that he will plum for some-one who has, and Houghton ticks alot of boxes !
I think it will be to bigger risk to go for some-one like Laudrup or Desialy like the Swans are being tipped for.

100% agree. hughton is the blatant choice - lots depends on whether we are prepared to pay the compensation. west brom apparently shirked at the asking price (i heard anywhere between £2m and £3m) but in the grand scheme of things, that is not a lot for a huge asset to the club. we wouldn't gasp if we paid that for a key player! west brom's chairman jeremy peace is renowned for being a tight-arse so his loss may end up being our gain.

I think Hughton is number one, but the board are keepin all options open

At the end of the day if we didn't get him we need another option, eggs and baskets and all that

There are managers out there, plenty of good ones, but Hughton is number one for me.

    Go get im'!
