Hey Dai he must be talking to you because no one could be that daft to talk to someone who had them on ignore. You've got one friend left at least, very impressive

Can you post your strongest Man Utd team up, hopefully someone can PM with it so I can see it for myself :D

The reason I have never wanted to be a mod is because I do not want the power or ability to ban someone.
You all volunteered to be mods...so crack on and Mod. Make a decision and stand by it. If you are honest with yourseves you cannot go wrong. You have my confidence, but I dont believe in this referendum stuff/mod by proxy..it smacks of indecisiveness and makes a bad thing worse.

As far as I'm aware, our rules allow for a mod to be challenged at any time. Then we hold a vote of confidence. Its wrong to hold a him or us. Make your decisions and live with it....whats the worst that can happen - you get the vote of confidence issue raised if its unpopular!

Dilli (even though I know you won't read this <laugh> ) the tone of your post @21 above just shows what you're about. Why goad Dai with comments like "You've got one friend left at least, very impressive"? To provoke a reaction, that's why. Another breach of the rules that will no doubt go unpunished and you wonder why Dai is pissed off?

Instead of looking for a non-banning solution (as I've suggested numerous times) there are those like you hell-bent on confrontation with Dai that will inevitably result in a ban for him. You and your group just haven't got the mental capabilities to pour oil on troubled waters - it's beyond you. Maybe it's not your fault, I don't know. But it's not helping. I don't know how old you are but some of your comments make me wonder, they really do. <doh>

I'm toodling off to bed now (still on Shagalluf time) and I hope that when I check later someone somewhere has had the sense to put a stop to this. But can anyone answer me why we can't do as I suggested all along:

1: Put Dai on Ignore if you don't want to see his comments.
2: Mods put up an edict/ suggestion that regular users don't respond to his comments using the 'reply with quotes' facility.
3: Ditto that users don't cut n' paste them, out of respect to those people who will have him on ignore.

That's not too onerous for anyone is it? If anyone can tell me why they'd rather ban than do the above we'd all love to hear it. <ok>

As much as I can understand our Moderators frustrations regarding Dai, I have to say that swim has hit the nail on the head, and I fore one agree with Swim hole heartedly, his above comments are spot on, Mods you need to have the conviction of character to deal with the issue, and not bounce it back on the board, if you feel he's a problem, then deal with him accordingly. I've read all the comments from the start of this thread, and the usual protagonists are there as usual, but please mods if your going to ban him again for whatever reason, then please get on with it, otherwise forever hold your council, and lets move on, and let bygones by bygones, because this is getting very embarrassing and tedious, and personally I'm tired of it all.

Don't worry about opinions from Jager, Knackered, or myself, if you feel that Dai has a negative influence on this forum, then simply deal with him as you have in the past, I and many others on this board will always stand by the decision you make, and there will always be a few that will crow, don't worry about it, just get on with it.

Dai I have always defended you mate over the years, and will continue to do so, but I think you need to start respecting your fellow jacks, and whatever our mods decide, I will support, but that doesn't alter the fact that, I hold you in high regard!...................<ok>

The Mods were elected to mod and, as such, I will support their decision.

I think enough is enough now.

We appear to have the backing of most posters here, and if someone wants us outed, I think we should allow them to put up a vote.
I personally still don't want Dai banned, he is one of us after all. Since his ban, the majority of his posts have been football related, but he did reply to remarks made by others.
I posted what I believe is a solution, and I stand by that. I can tolerate his posts, so I am the mod willing to make the decisions regarding his posts.

Can everyone who does not wish to read his posts place him on ignore, and those that don't ignore him, please don't use the reply with quote function.

    Thankyou.

This is the type of thread that is the biggest turn off on the forum for me. I've lost count of the times the phrase "but matters have now come to a head" has been used here. Everything has become so predictable and nothing changes.
Everyone knows that Dai posts inflammatory statements and has an arrogant streak in him. Everyone knows there is a clique with certain members - the "in" crowd if you will.
There is an ignore option correct ? it seems the consensus is that putting Dai on ignore will solve the issue. However even when Dai is not here or part of a post, people in the "in crowd" still take joy at having a sly dig at him in a post and then the next few posts are all about that - and in a very condescending manner. Cage = Rattled.
It's a case of 6 of one half dozen of the other for me - although Dai's half dozen are hard boiled.

Stereo couldn't agree more mate, just let people have their own opinions, and use self determination on whether to reply to a post or not, its not difficult or rocket science and no ignore feature is really needed, because we all know that if they are on ignore we will get the inevitable comments that say like the above one above

which sort of defeats the objective of having an ignore feature to begin with!

I think our mods do a fine job and i will stand behind what ever desicion they decide to make, whether i agree with it or not.

I have done what was suggested and placed on ignore. So for those who mod, keep modding.

Has the penny finally dropped? I used to be the one who said 'let the mods mod' but sorry it doesn't work. When we let the mods mod we had Aber welcomed back with open arms against the wishes of some here - and look how that ended up. Sometimes they get it wrong because they are only human and we as contributors should be allowed to say so. No, I don't agree with the mods asking posters' opinions on everything. That would be ridiculous. But banning a long time poster in the current circumstances is a big deal, though I have to say this thread is nothing but a piece of divisive nonsense, pitting one poster against another as we are asked to 'take sides'. Not helpful, guys.

Stereo and Jager are spot on and I go along with their comments above. Phil and I don't exactly get along but he's right - people are tired of this crap, and this thread isn't helping us move on. Time to close methinks, but that's up to you. <ok>

Thank you everyone for their contributions much appreciated. The consensus is to place any poster they disagree with onto ignore, the difficulty will be to stop some posters then doing a reply with quote. This will be difficult to resolve as some people might want to reply to a particular quote. Don't know if their is and easy answer. So it may be easier to do a standard reply then type in the post number you are refering to, not foolproof, but might be a way around it.

I will leave the thread open for another hour then close it.

Once again many thanks for your input.

    Mods over Dai.

There's little to debate here is there, really!

EDIT - It appears I was late to the party. Apologies.

Neveroff, I think it's safe to say you will have learned an awful lot about people on this thread and I suspect that may have been your intention in the 1st place. Some people argue just for the sake of arguing but at least you got the support of the majority of the board even though some people are very conspicuous by their absence. Perhaps now is the time to close this and let them all get on with it.
