What was that idiot on about interviewing Pardew saying that he "grabbed him by the throat"? He didn't grab him by the throat at all he picked Gervinho up by the shirt and confronted him about his shameful diving antics, Gervinho couldn't remain professional and raised his hands to Bartons face, instant red card. But the most disgraceful player on the pitch was Song, hope he gets a 3 game ban.

 

Song is a dirty ****. Should get a ban, but no doubt they'll claim there isn't enough footage...

Sad thing is, watch the motd replay and, despite gervinho going down like he'd been shot, there was contact. If it would've been the other way around we'd have been saying that contact is contact, no matter how minimal. The events after were just ridiculous

At last, a bit of honesty, there was no dive, there WAS contact, he went down easily but show me a forward who wouldn't. Barton is totally to blame for the whole incident and Taylor is even worse with his elbow bullshit.

Sorry, I class a dive as going down with no contact. He went down very easily and I don't agree with it but if players start dragging others about for going down easily there will be an incident every 5 minutes. Gervinho had to go and so did Song. Taylor should also be sanctioned because what he did was just total lying and cheating to get a player sent off.

Much worse than what both Barton and Gervinho did in my opinion.

 

Well, going down too easily is just another phrase for diving in my book.

If the contact you recieve isn't enough to make you fall to the ground, and the only way you would fall to the ground is if you purposely make yourself fall, it is a dive and therefore not a penalty.

 

As a neutral i personally do think that had this not been Barton it would have blown over after the match (Not that what he did should be condoned, but I too would be ticked off if my leg had been stamped on needlessly and gone unpunished and the opponents were diving a fair amount in and around the box). Also I think some (not all) Arsenal fans are just trying to find mediocre excuses for another piss poor performance today instead of accepting a blatant truth...

Gervinho dived twice in that match. He went over extremely easily earlier on in the game when Raylor 'fouled' him. Hardly touched him and he flung himself to the floor. What does Gervinho weigh then, 2 stone? Pathetic. It was a dive and that's cheating. And raising your hands to another player is a red card offence, like it or not.

Barton should not have gotten involved. He overreacted and he's a right tool for doing so. It's things like these that are going to overshadow his footballing talents and that's a real shame. This comes, what, a week after Capello's reasoning for not including him in the squad? Doesn't look good on yourself Joey. We see him week in week out and the majority of the time he's contained. But he flips once and that's all people are going to remember. I know maybe it's blown out of proportion because it's Joey but he still shouldn't have acted like a tit. Embarrassing, to say the least. He should have been sent off. But, the referee dealt with it at the time so therefore nothing else can be done.

And Song's a dirty **** and the FA should look into that and ban him. The ref clearly missed it so it's in the FA's hands now. Disgusting.
