Depends how reckless on whether it's a second yellow or a straight red. But either way the defender's definitely off. I'd send the striker off for a second yellow as well. Even though play is stopped before the dive he's asking for other players to get sent off. Penalty also.

We did this one on our workshop! Regardless of contact, dangerous tackling/lunges have to be stamped out if deemed bad enough. I'll say this is.

So he receives his marching orders, I'd then give a 2nd yellow to the striker for "unsporting behaviour" for the action of screaming for a red card and/or the dive itself.

The restart is a difficult one. It depends really on your interpretation and sometimes it's hard to do that with just words.

Did this or a similar incident not happen with Vincent Kompany and Ronaldo in Manchester derbies?

    Contact is irrelevant.

That certainly takes some of the fun out of the game. Deep down I knew it was true, but I didn't want to believe it. :(

Yeah I have to agree on that, even as a ref. The common sense in me says to play on and let the kids carry on playing but they keep telling us we have to "educate bad tackles out of the game", rather than letting them go until someone gets seriously hurt.

Surely then play should be stopped as soon as the defender lunges. Penalty. And of course defender is sent off.

And the striker? I can't stand players calling and harassing with verbal communication or hand gestures for a red card to be given.

I'd get rid of him too for the unsporting behaviour.

I don't think it does. You can't let players get away with shocking challenges because they don't make contact/the other player takes evasive action

It could be (unless you're playing advantage of a striker through on goal?) but he's still unsporting by screaming for a red - even if the play is dead, screaming at the ref for a sending off is against the rules.

If play is stopped after the lunge then I guess the striker gets away with the simulation. His only punishment is being known as a massive twat for the rest of his career.

Is he screaming at the ref though, or just generally screaming like all players do when they go down?

Well, Mr Nice is right again. Both players would get sent off, the defender for the lunge (contact is irrelevant) and the striker for simulation. For the restart, we rewind to the first offence soma penalty is given. The point to note is that if the striker had not gone for the dive, he would still be on the pitch.

    Last round;

Before a penalty is taken, you allow athe defending team to swap their keeper for an outfield player who excels at saving penalties in training. Sure enough, the new keeper tips the penalty around the post for a corner, which the attacking team want to take quickly. Do you delay the play for the keepers to be swapped back, or allow the quick kick?

Since the ball has gone out of play you don't allow it to be taken quickly. You let them switch back.

I have no idea on this one but I guess I'd agree with RickieGoalMachine. I'd have thought that on a dead ball they've every right to switch players back.

I'd give a drop ball, just for a laugh. Has anyone ever scored from one?

Probably just as well. I mean how could you live with the abuse, let alone the terrible self-inflicted poor eyesight?
