Cardiff City FC can confirm that a decision has been taken to relieve Omer Riza of his duties as First Team Manager. Aaron Ramsey will lead the Club for the remaining three games of the Sky Bet Championship season, beginning with Monday’s match at home to Oxford United.
Well it was coming. Not sure about the timing though. Maybe, just maybe, the players will respond to Ramsey, but this is not the solution. If we do manage to stay up, or not, we need a complete reset, from top to bottom.
Poisoned chalice/hospital pass for Rambo then. At least he can't be made the scapegoat when we go down.
"Ramsey, 34, will lead the side for the first time during Monday's game against Oxford United at Cardiff City Stadium (15:00 BST). He will be assisted by former Wales team-mate and current Wales Under-19s manager Chris Gunter, as well as Bluebirds midfielder Joe Ralls." Where does Purse, Shaw and Ramasut fit in - or don't they?
Ramsey isn’t that much of a surprise but Gunter? Where did that come from? Suspect Ramsey insisted on him. Three more make up the interim technical group:
Don't hate me for this but personally I think (the signing of) Ramsay has helped put us in the basement His lack of value in wages for non appearances could have paid for a couple of younger less experienced players with a point to prove in the middle of the park. Lets hope he's on a pay per appearance fee if he's employed as a player manager in his new contract
I don’t disagree with your thinking but at the time of his signing and seeing how well he was playing in his opening games including a MOM performance v swansea he was a valuable asset. Then came the plague of injuries which has all but ended his career. So it was a gamble that started well but ended badly on the pitch but if he can somehow galvanise the team into a miraculous escape then it’ll have been money well spent.
I have to say that I'm looking beyond what happens at the end of this season and Ramsey could be the breath of fresh air we require. He has good knowledge of the modern game and no doubt, loads of useful contacts that are still in the game. It will all depend on Tan's relationship with him.
It could end up as the best thing Tan has done. Ramsey is Cardiff through and through I can't see him allow any slackers, you either play for the shirt of go on your way.
Exactly where I was coming from Dai. I'm sure also that Ramsey will get loads of support from Bellamy too.
