Riza has his say. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...s/omer-riza-fields-questions-cardiff-31195568
I think that article confirms what we already knew about him being an honest, good guy. Unfortunately, that doesn't equate to being an effective manager at this level. I reckon he will get there but unfortunately we don't have the time to accommodate his progress. The time he's taken in trying to identify the most effective set up and the players most effective strengths and weaknesses, to me shows a man still learning. What's frustrating is that DoF or similar advisor, might have set him on his way a lot quicker. I'm at a loss as to whether or not he should stay now given our boards track record in hiring. Let's hope he has a Eureka moment.
I suspect that if we lose tomorrow, with others going above us so we are in the bottom three, it will be goodbye Mr. Riza. Not good with only 8 games to go but any new manager (and if that is the plan then it should already be in place) will have up to 2 weeks to prepare and get the players on board before the Wendies game. How many absentees do we have on international duty? This would be far from ideal but we cannot continue to lurch from one defeat to another while tumbling down the league and do nothing. Would another manager change work? Who knows?
It's a flip of the coin isn't it?? The players appear to like playing under Riza, who's to say that if a new manager came in, they wouldn't rub some players up the wrong way and end up with even less effectiveness from the squad?? Riza has shown he's capable of leading the group on more than one occasion and I do have some sympathy for him as many players do appear to be going hiding during games again and displaying a total lack of confidence. He just absolutely needs to find as much of a settled 11 as possible now and hopefully get back to a positive streak of results...
Erol sulking because Omer took the city job. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sacked-cardiff-city-boss-erol-31299764
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/omer-riza-offers-theory-spate-31297751 Both taking cheap shots at each other. Once this season is done then hopefully we’ll see the end of Riza and with him Shaw and the rest and conclude this underwhelming period in the clubs history and can move on with a completely new coach and staff.
I still can't work Riza out. Would a full pre-season allow him to settle on a way forward, or is he a lost cause? Weigh that up against ANOTHER manager with ANOTHER philosophy requiring ANOTHER change in direction and ANOTHER change in players. Would the next manager want old heads with experience, or would youth get a chance? If the former, then we might as well get what we can for Lawler and Perrett now. As we repeatedly say, the problems run far deeper than just the manager.
Ismael has now lost 5 from 5. Blackburn fans must be beside themselves. Eustace was taking them to the play offs surely then the snowbirds steal him and it’s gone to pot. Do clubs sack managers this late in the season with no danger of relegation?
