Off there this weekend, not a gambler at all as I'm useless at it but of course I'll be placing a couple of bets. Any tips?

I'm there on Friday.

I'll have a look tomorrow night LG, as will others I'm sure. However I see the very well fancied Oaks runner Crystal Zvezda is runnig in the 7.30. She didn't act on the course at Epsom, becoming unbalanced down the hill and eased off by jockey, eventually tailed off. York is a flat galloping track which will suit her much better, having won well over this distance at Newbury. Main danger may be the one raced Sea The Stars filly French Dressing who won with so much in hand at Ascot there is no telling how good she may be.

Thanks I'm going to stick one bet on to win and see if I can get some good cash with my one bet. If I start doing smal amounts on a few it'll add up so I'm looking for one big winner.

Do you just want a winner LG, or do you want a "good value" bet. ie are you bothered about the odds?

I won’t be punting at the meeting but at first glance the most interesting runner, to my eye, has to be Sir Mick’s Hakka (8.00). Absolutely wonderfully bred being by Dansili and out of the Group 1 winning mare, African Rose. Hakka has had 2 runs to date and looks most progressive. First time up he was an eye catching runner-up and then followed that up with a nice win (the 2nd that day has won since, so the form looks solid, and they were a whopping 9 lengths clear of the 3rd). And perhaps most interestingly looks to have the potential to be far, far better than tomorrow’s perch of 85. One to look out for.

I think you have spotted a good one there Barney. That 4/1 looks juicy. The second (beautifully bred colt) , as you say, won next time out (comfortably I would add) by 6l from Pure Line who in her previous race had finished 1¾L 3rd to French Dressing (at levels). French Dressing runs in the earlier Listed race on the same card tomorrow. 4/1 Hakka looks a cracking bet and I would take the early price as it's bound to shorten up. The only slight doubt is that her 2 runs have both been at Wolverhampton so no form on turf; but no reason to believe that (breeding wise) she won't go on it. Should hack up. I'll get my coat.

what 4-1 Ron? Can't find any prices for that race .....

And hi - apologies for prolonged absence, been doing other stuff lol

It's a forecast price on ATR Reebs. As you say, no bookie prices up yet.

Hakka best priced 9/4 as I speak and being backed - looks like the county set are on. Usually well informed money <ok>

Still a better price than mine LG and probably more likely to win. If you are looking for one bet it's got to be Hakka. Have a good day <cheers>

A sporting E-W may be Mr O'Meara's Makin the Rules in the 6.30. Transferred to O'Meara as a 2 times winner over 5f, he's mostly been running over 8f (3X) and 10f since then and his rating has slipped from 78 to 72. Today he returns to 6f, a distance to which he is far more suited.

As an e-w bet I'd be tempted with Strong man in the 8.oo

Have a great evening anyway - probably quite hard not to at such a cracking track :-).

No county set money involved, old boy. Unless, of course, I’ve been ‘blackballed’ and not advised of anything.

Does seem quite a punt going on Hakka though. A lot of people, I guess, think he has the ability and pedigree to be a lot, lot better than an 85 perched animal.

Surely an impossibility with a capital 'I'. Such a travesty could and should never occur. The county set without your good self would be akin to a 'Carry On' film without Sid James.
