He's made of Wheatabix...

DENNIS CIRKIN has suffered an injury setback that has forced Sunderland’s medical staff to recommend a lengthy period of rest.

“It’s a bit longer than expected,” said head coach Regis Le Bris. “For Dennis, we have to wait a bit. Things didn’t heal properly after his wrist injury, and he has been complaining of his knee as well. He needs to rest a bit.

“We have decided to step back really. We have decided to give him a real period of rest so that he can reset and get ready to reconnect with the squad. That will give him the best chance of getting back to a point where he can perform.”

Something is not right with this lad physically or mentally or both, but its time to cut our losses with him now, and get rid.

We need warriors and fighters in our squad thos season and Denis just doesn't cut the mustard.

This is really bad news….. can’t help but wonder if his setback is physical or mental.
He’s a good player, with a real future, but time runs quickly these days.

I read a little about him when he first signed Tees, he appeared to be really suffering from the death of his dad and he came here as a fresh start. I don't know if I am imagining it or not but every time I see photos and videos of him he looks a very troubled person, struggling to come to terms with his loss.
Having said that, professional sport should be a much better antidote than grafting in a factory.

Yeah i agree mate, something just doesnt seem right with him mentally..
This is a wrist problem we're talking about here, not a knee or ankle. It all just doesn't add up but it frustrates me thinking of the wages him and Alese are on to constantly have the word injured next to their names in every article or team news i read

Literally says in the article that you posted that its also a knee problem.

9, 18, 38, 7, 4 and counting this season

That’s the number of league games he hasn’t featured in since signing here. Misses far too many

Not sure about this speculation about mental health issues, some people are just injury prone... Might be as simple as his body just isn't up to the rigours of professional football

Im glad someone finally agrees. He never has short term injuries. Every one he has always end up exceeding the date he's expected to return, the concussion a few years ago was ridiculous

Makes me wonder if the club kinda expected a set back, as in we signed 2 players we are predominantly left backs. Know we signed 2 who can play right back, but they dont appear as predominant in the full back positions as the left backs signed are

Just feels there is more to this than his wrist or knee, strikes me as quite a deep thinker and after whats happened in his life maybe he is struggling to square things off.

Im probably reading to much into his social media and online comments but hope he can get injury free and in a good place.

As for Alese, again I get people's frustration but if we get and keep him fit hes a premier league centre half all day

…I’d bet he doesn’t play a single PL game for Sunderland at CB. Far too many ahead of him now
