As ever the pleasure was all mine. The biggest positive that has come out of his season is the relationship between our supporters, and I feel that I have been one of the biggest beneficiaries of this. Hoops Eternal feels like a life long friend, I can't imagine going to a match and not bumping into Finglas somewhere beforehand, and dissecting matches as they happen with Stan is priceless. I met up with Nines and some of his mates after the match which led to an usual moment. as we left the White Horse, his nose went into overdrive. Before Mick, one of his mates, or I had registered anything, nines was saying "I think I might be needed" and was running off down the road. His fully trained fireman's nose had detected smoke and his training had taken over. hopefully the source of the smoke was the barbecue we located on a first floor balcony, but if we later discover that Nines had pulled a family out of a burning building I would not be surprised in the slightest. By the way, his friend, who I'd previously met before the Man City match, CORKeR and Cia you know the guy, has not missed a home match for 34 years, let me say that again, he has not missed a home match for 34 years. I then bumped into one on the guys at the Wetherspoons on the green who has stood next to Stan week in week out all season long. We sought a positive from the season and failed miserably, but we still had a laugh doing so. Thank God that we are indestructible.
The pleasure was mine too Hoops Eternal and Roller. Unfortunately, I tend to be busy dividing my time between people from this board and family who I only ever see for an hour before the games so apologies for dashing off to them and leaving you and Roller on your own. I would echo Roller's sentiments in that I have made some excellent "friends/match day drinking buddies" from this board and that for me has been the highlight of this season too. That goes to the lads on both sides of the Irish sea so I feel I am a huge beneficiary as well. You are all a credit to this great club of ours. Every single one of you. We need to keep up the camaraderie between ourselves over the course of the next few difficult weeks and into the Summer.
Definitely huge positive has been meeting up with a lot of guys from here. The Irish meet up was a particular highlight. Would be good to meet as many as possible at the last home game before we all start watching the cricket and try to forget!!
I agree, it's been a huge positive for me meeting up with so many brilliant like minded R's. I will miss you all over the summer months, but only reaffirms my determination to attend as many games as possible next season, for the football of course, not the beer! On the other hand!!!!!
