Your match report was spot on. However, playing Cisse yesterday would have been disastrous. We would have had to sacrifice a working midfielder for him and although we might have scored I think we'd have been beaten, 3-1 or something. As Uncle Fester said in the gantry, if you bring Cisse back in now you sacrifice the work ethic that has been garnered recently. I said before the game that we had to win this game but I hadn't really realised just how dangerous Spurs are. They're definitely better now than when we played them earlier this season. But with City coming up, we have to go to Upton Park now and get nothing less than all three points.
I didn't say Cisse should have played yesterday and I absolutely agree with the formation and set up against Spurs. All I'm saying is that we will need to attack more at home if we're to some how get out of this mess. Draws won't keep us up.
I'm sure we'll have a go if we have the players that fit the plan, Zamora on his way back could be a big difference upfront...
Excellent report, Col. Harry's getting 50% more from our players than Hughes did, but still I don't think that the squad we have now will be enough to keep us up. So once again, attention will be turned to matters off the pitch. If Harry can pull off, say, 3 well rounded signings (by which I mean talent, massive work ethic and the ability to attack and defend no matter what their speciality) in the key areas we all know about, we have a fighting chance. As we saw yesterday, the teams at risk above us are going to fight like wildcats to stay up. The next three weeks are going to critical to our survival in the Prem imho.
Couldn't agree more. As I said to my mate yesterday, under normal circumstances, a draw at home to Spurs ain't a bad point but because we've gotten ourselves into such a predicament, it kind of feels like another home game gone and more pressure to win out next game. Still, a win in the East end next weekend would make yesterdays result a good one.
I think the 3 points at Chelsea made it a good draw yesterday. I do feel we really need to try to win at West Ham, although a draw there and another against Citeh would give us 6 points from Chelsea and West Ham away and Spurs and Citeh at home. Not sure many would have expected that much tbh.
Can't agree with that mate. In isolation maybe that wouldn't be a bad little run but prior to the Chelsea game we lost all three games against 2 mid-table and one sh*t side. We've got 14 points from 22 games which is shockingly bad so we simply MUST start winning NOW! The game yesterday was as close to a must win as you could get yet we didn't win it. Two points from the next two isn't enough with where we find ourselves. Three is the absolute minimum for me. Four would be fantastic.
I disagree with you there, two draws from our next 2 games would be great and keep us in touch, then we must win the big six pointers
Do you think so Andy? I'm not sure it would. By that time we'd have played 24 games and have only 2 wins to our name. Sorry man but we've got ourselves into such an awful position, we simply must start winning now. Ain't you looked at the league table?
Just to throw something else into the discussion last season after 22 games we had 20 points.....after 28 games we had 22 points....so anything better than 8 points in the next 6 games puts us in a better position then we were last season....who'd have thought it? BTW good report col.
I was complimenting you on the excellent choice of the word "garnered", Swords. It was important to give you praise where it is deserved and the use of "garnered" was exemplary. Sorry, I suffered an injury Friday and must still be in shock.
Now you're talking, that's exactly right. Keep on looking down the road lest you trip over your toes analysing each step. Edit; and what Tramore said.
