Disagree strongly. As I said before, it seems that even when he scores the equaliser, creates 2 chances for others and comes to within a whisker of getting the winner with a fantastic shot, some people will still make comments like this. Amazing! ( Oh and Taarabt is now one of the hardest working players we have)

    Totally agree.

I think the disagreement between people is not so much that they see different things but that they have a different idea of what you should get from a player. Some people don't mind if a player does nothing the whole game and just lounges around as long as they produce one move in which they unlock the defence or score themselves. I suppose there's some merit to that point of view.

Personally, these kinds of players drive me insane and I can't help it. I want blood, sweat and tears from every one of our players and anyone not giving it, I'll never like I'm afraid.
That's why when the boys told us about Bosingwa's action in the second half, I'll never like the lazy cu*t again.

I get what you're saying, but it's never been so and never will be. There have always been the water carriers and there have always been the ball players/goal scorers. Linekar did little but score goals....lots of them. Stan was a lazy/petulant so and so, but we loved him (well....maybe you didn't). Cisse has been poor this season, no doubt. BUT, I said I thought he needed to start a few games to try to play him into some kind of goal scoring form. It's him or Zamora.....no contest for me.
You're right about Bosingwa....not sure what the hell is up with him.

Now there's a top response. You're right mate, it will never be so so I suppose you've just got to find the balance between work-horses and match-winners. And Cisse did score after all!

I've an old fashioned Brit/Irish view of football. Huff and puff, give it and go. That kind of thinking can't survive in the modern game and I'm aware of that.

But sometimes I just can't help it!!!

Seems to me to me very often that players who give everything all through the game, are great to have but typically don't often pull out the match winning run and finish that the "lazier" player, who is often that bit quicker, sharper and more likely to score under pressure having bided his time so to speak, waiting the right opportunities to give everything. I think the best teams often have combinations of both kind of players.

Great right up Col, as ever. I love the way you describe your lad's optimism. I hope he is not too disappointed!

Read the whole thread and great debate.

I, too, noticed Mackie on the right with Junior as Granero kicked off, leaving the left completely empty! I thought we were going to see something different / special / amazing but sadly was disappointed .

Did anyone else have a clue what that was about?

Being 13, he soon gets over it mate. He's surrounded by Reading fans at school, not to mention the usual Man u and Chelsea glory fans, so he really wanted us to stuff them. I think he is just slowly accepting that we may well be in the Championship next year. That will be a real shame for him, as he loves watching all the Premier League players and especially ours of course.
I think I've given up on Hughes going anywhere soon, so I'll just be hoping against hope that we can turn things around.
