Nice one Col, good to see some balance coming back in after the immediate outpourings of anger and grief on Saturday. I genuinely think we have the makings of a very handy team now, was hugely impressed with the first half hours on Saturday and at Villa. Doing that the full 90 (95) minutes minus all suicidal impulses the key.
Barton now really confusing me. I cannot believe he is a bad player after the comments and support he got from the majority of the Geordies, and from what I have seen in the past. But I am not sure what he is meant to be doing - breaking up play and playing the simple ball, something more ambitious creatively or what? I seem to remember that he had biggest impact playing on the right in Newcastle, and perhaps this would be best for him for us. SWP is not able to do any better than he is at the moment, this is what you get plus one or two spectacular goals a year which we are still waiting for.....

I agree we could try him on the right mate, once Diakite arrives.
I think the main problem with Barton is that he's tried to re-invent himself and in the process he's lost his competitive edge. Lose that and you lose the player you had.
