Wooh! Niko was ok. He set up Caulker superbly for him to cross for the og, and I saw him winning the ball near his own box after doing exactly what you say he didn't do -track back. He didn't seem as sharp as early season, but not bad. Hope he just needs a game or 2 to get match sharp again
I agree. I thought Kranjcar was superb, seeing that it was his first full game for a while. He made a great sliding tackle on Mahrez in the right back position in the first half. He had some poor moments in the match and a lack of mobility as others have mentioned but he's never been known as a pacey player as far as I can recall. Overall he played really well. Anyway, I thought it was a great game yesterday. End to end stuff that felt like an old fashioned cup tie. Great atmosphere too. There were some shockers in both sides defences but this added to the excitement. I'm not going to comment on individual performances as I thought the whole team and individuals were both good and bad during the game. Instead of looking for negatives in them I'd like to focus on the team as a whole. That's what's important, we have a team at last.
I thought yesterday was what you'd call 'Thud and Blunder', some heart-stopping moments but a great spectacle. We moaned about the boring shyte we had to put up with last season, we're getting our money's worth this season...
It's all about opinions and how you watch the game I suppose. Each to their own. You will notice when a player tracks back and wins the ball far more often than when he simply doesn't try however. You only have to look at Leicesters second goal to see what I'm on about. Krancjar is too slow out to Schlupp and fouls him on the edge of the area, but play is allowed to continue. Despite being within distance of where schlupp is, and schlupp originally being on the floor from the tackle, krancjar doesn't get back in to position in time allowing schlupp to score when the ball falls to him a second time. As first stated, never doubted his ability on the ball. Magician!
Spot on. I think you can see this kind of thing clearer at the ground I think, rather than when watching on TV. Nico is a great talent, but he is a liability off the ball.
I agree he is not the best at tracking back, but he did do it, and he was involved in 2 at least of our goals. Surely we need balance between players who are at their best at each end of the park. I think Niko contributed to our much improved attacking performance Saturday -31 chances, and maybe to us being more open at the back, but I also expected Henry and Barton to have done better providing defensive cover Saturday. For me neither were as good as they have been at this part of their game (Henry's a major part normally), or maybe were asked to get forward more. I thought we missed Sandro.
If Nico could run fast and tackle he wouldn't be playing for QPR. He has everything else. And at least he tries, always from what I've seen.
I thought we looked incredibly porous at the back and it rather spoilt my enjoyment of the game because Leicester looked like they might score with every attack. I was a bag of nerves! On the plus side, we created a huge number of chances ourselves, with Fer having his best game for us and, unusually, working hard. I am one of those who thought that Kranjcar had a good game, contributing a great deal to our creativity. I am prepared to forgive Green the occasional silly punch or less than perfect kicking because he pulled off 2-3 stunning saves that were crucial to our victory. I'd give him, Caulker, and Kranjcar all 7's. Fer gets MOTM and an 8, from me.
Maybe, but he's still a liability off the ball. If we're going to play him, it needs to be in the centre, in the No10 position. But then we'd have to change the formation to something like a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, which I would prefer with BZ out.
About how I saw it mate. I was very, very, happy with the result, but a lot less when I watched the game a few hours later. But it was a lot better that Saturday, for all the faults, than not going for it at all, as has too F often been the case under Harry.
It certainly wasn't a game for the purists, can you imagine what United, Chelsea fans would have made of it, they wouldn't know what to do.....me I thought it was a brilliant game, chances at both ends, great saves...the works.......it was nerve wracking watching, in fact I think it is worse watching on a stream/tv than being at the game. That game was everything that football should be.....
Agreed, i thoroughly enjoyed that match, and even if we had drawn or lost i thought it was great to see 2 sides going for it flat out. Credit to Leicester for having a good go as well. Deserved result though i think
