Sounds like he talks alot of sense Millsy!! Can we sign him up as a defensive coach, sounds like he's got a good few ideas!!

It's definitely clear where our weaknesses lie!! 2 weeks to sort it out now PJ!!! If we get this sorted we'll be okay.

I like the sound of SSL but as they are saying on the radio we need and experienced leader. Chambers and Smith aren't bad defenders but they need a leader next with them!!

My God I agree with you PTC! Mills was saying that even the great Kevin Beattie needed Hunter to guide him at times! The problem with the 2 we have is that they both need it so its like the blind leading the blind!

I agree people said Delaney needed a leader next to him. He didn't he needed footballing talent. The reason why Delaney didn't look to bad next to McAuley was not because McAuley was there to guide him but because McAuley was a very good defender could read the game and often got him out of trouble!!

The 2 we have atm are decent enough CB's but with a young GK (who's not commanding), a young LB and either a young RB or a RW as RB we need someone in there to shout a bit and guide the other players!! Someone like a Jason Devos, he wasn't the best player but he was a leader and we'd never give in and he wouldn't let heads drop!!

Absolutely PATHETIC comments by some on here.

Embarrassing to read,,,,,, if I was a Norwich fan reading this I would be laughing my head off!

While I'm far from happy with us at the moment, I really do NOT want us to lose games in the hope a manager I MAY Not want will get the sack.

Look at Keane taking 14 games was it to get a win? Did pathetic comments like ' YES ! ' and all the other absolute TOSS I've read in this ' article ' help him get sacked!? No, clearly it didn't !!!!

Whether you like it or not ( and I must confess even I am starting not to ! ) Jewell IS our manager so we may aswell accept it.

Another AWFUL crowd, 16,800 on a saturday, wow !

So to be subjective, who went today, what did we do right, and what did we do wrong!? Many thanks

Ref was ****. Linesmen were both ****. Drummers were **** (where was Moby Dick by Led Zep, or Heads Hands and Feet by Santana FFS? They sounded like someone was rolling oil drums around a warehouse). Announcers were **** (hello! Stoppage time?!). Programme printers were **** (sold out 20 minutes before kick off?!). Town were **** (at least for an hour). Even my usually impressive pre-match coffee was ****. If I'd been for a ****, I suspect the ****house facilities would have been ****. Huddersfield were ****, but still managed 2 goals and a point away from home.

My MOM goes to Huddersfield's number 18 for managing to stay on the pitch, despite being a fouling, cheating, gobshite.

Verdict? A fantastic day out for all the family.

I just wrote a bloody mahoosive match review but somehow the page disappeared without saving so this will be a lot shorter.
Firstly this thread in the majority is ****ing pathetic. I might aswell not give you a view of the match because you will all accuse me of writing bullshit because it is not what you want to hear. Sorry to disappoint
I think the majority of the 16000 home fans in the ground saw one of the best passing performances given by a town team in many a year. I think we are now arsenalesque. Our passing attacking and interplay was a joy to watch at times. Taylor has a lot of running and with a low centre of gravity can sweep past players almost messi like (obviously not at the same level but decent close ball control, a drop of a shoulder and he can be away) a very promising debut although he did try to do too much at times but hopefully this was an overenthusiastic debut. He had a few flicks but his interplay with the rest of the team looked very promosing.
As I say the performance was almost arsenalesque and we shared their achilles heal. We looked comfortable enough on the ball at all times, seriously - every player was calm and mainly picked a decent pass but we need a physical presence. A bit of power, height and someone that can command. A man mountain type who can outmuscle both at defensive and attacking set play.
The majority of the crowd dont share the views of those few on here (or didnt let it effect their support) who want us to fail and for the first time in many a month Jewells name was chanted possitively from the North Stand. The entertainment value was there but if we want to have a top half finish this season then the next loanee needs to have that dominating presence that can clear his lines and give attackers a tough time. That performance was 90% there as far as having a half decent team but its that powderpuff centre that we have suffered from that needs to be resolved.
Off course we will face bigger tests than Huddersfield so my review should be taken into context but after the gloom of the last week I once again saw positivity. We just need to replicate it and ensure that we dont have last seasons inconsistencies

Just reading back through the thread I don't quite get where this 'majority' of pathetic posts comes from. I see people supporting their team when they score, unhappy when they concede and agreeing with what Mills had to say. I think both you and Westy really want to call Hampy out but don't want to drop names.

Draw was a fair result IMO.

WE were unlucky to go in 1 down at H/T not very often you see 3 strikes from the edge of the box all on target one after the other, usually one would end up in row Z, we blocked the 1st two after initially clearing the corner. Their 2nd was down to the midfield not doing its job, you could argue similar for their 1st.!

I would imagine Huddersfield would say both our goals were poor from a defensive point of view, although I thought Chops finish was 1st class.

AS much as I think jewell is a complete waste of space, we have to realise this is where we find ourselves at this time, wishing we would lose is something I would never wish for, shame on those who do.!

    Just a few player summaries from my opinion;
Loach, some great saves, showed class today with great pen save. MOM.
Ainsley, rocky 1st half defensively but better 2nd half, ok when in possession, put in a fantastic cross at beginning of 2nd half, was begging to be put away.

Taylor, good debut, busy and showed a threat especially when he cut inside.
Murphy, did the job he has been signed for, won a good deal in the air, to many knock downs he won we did not get to, reckless challenge for pen though.

Just a shame we did not have a new CB to comment on…!

Referee, had a shocker, booking Drury for having the ball clearly touching the line for a corner was a joke.!
Why he could not admit that he was wrong when he went over to check is very poor.

Hoppers - I was other end of the pitch but guessed he booked Drury for arguing/ comments/ reactions.
I know your not a Jewell fan but as one of the few on this thread who went - did you see any positivity. I think if we can keep that performance up we are 1/2 powerful players away from having a decent team. I also thought Ainsleys forward play and crosses in particular looked good for a young player on his full home debut. Full marks to the coaches and Chambers in particular for talking/ giving advise and encouragement the whole way through. There was one point where ainsley kicked chambers in the head, nothing serious but chambers turned round gave him a hug and said some encouraging words - first class team spirit all round

I think Drury got booked for saying "I think you may be wrong on this one ref" or something like that.!
It probably did not help that as one in the SBR stand we told the ref we thought he was to busy with his right hand...

Going forward we look like we can make chances all day, but we also look so suspect on the break, Smith & Chambers are not the fastest & we did miss Edwards turn of speed at the back although Ainsley was arguably the best of our back 4 today.
I was a little dissapointed with our midfield today when we did not have the ball, over the last few games we have pressed the ball very well when we lost possession but today we gave them to much time, as their 2nd will show tonight on the highlights.

Problem is we are never going to break into the top 8+ in this division without a couple of additions to our back 4, until we are more solid defensively jewell will never go with 2 up front, thus we will not score enough to raise a realistic promotion challange. At this rate another season around mid-to-low finish beckons..!

My only hope is that jewell has a decent CB loan lined up next week, otherwise my view of his transfer dealings will sink even lower, if that is possible.!

think thats a fair assessment hoppers although I think we may be able to score enough with the current formation. There is enough attacking threat there but we need to take those chances. Murphy had a clear cut chance to put us one up. Taylor looks like he can cause problems. Martin hasnt been as effective as last season but we know what he can do and Chopra for me doesnt do enough but I know most will disagree and he did score a fine goal today.

I cant believe you dont like Jewells long term signings though. I know his short term ones have been pish poor but the younger/ longer term ones I think have mainly looked good but agree that we do need defensive reinforcements

One step at a time Tractor bhoy, we have agreed on far to much today as it is...!

I do like the look of Taylor though, his best position maybe just in front of our middle two, IMO.!

I would play Taylor in the Martin role. He looks comfortable with the ball and with the possibility of moving in any direction from the middle of the park could really give the opposition problems. Move Martin out wide with Murphy the other side. Two of Luongo/ Hyam/ drury behind them and a f**king mahoussive new centre back alongside either Smith or Chambers (too similar in their style to play together but wouldnt write either off) with Loach in goal, Cresswell at LB and I wouldnt mind seeing Ainsley given more chances at RB against weaker opponents at least until Hewitt is fit.
