I went a couple of years ago, miserable place in February, gloomy faces, gloomy places... I loved going to see Auschwitz and that, but some of the places I went to, on business, were just huge dustbins.
Grafters mate, never met one who won't put a shift in, and I've met hundreds of them. They get a bad rep over here, for 'pinching jobs', but in all honest, they just do the jobs a lot more efficiently than a sick-note Brit who moans from am to pm. They also get a bad rep for shoplifting, which obviously is much worse than Islamic Extremism, since they all seem to get away with preaching that ****. The country, I've seen very little of it, but what I did see, apart from the WW2 stuff, wasn't very interesting to me, but then again I'm not one for culture and sight seeing, give me a beach any day, with a pair of aviators to watch the boobies bounce in stealth mode.
Not Croatia, I've been to Hungary, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic... that's sort of the Eastern European countries I've been to, mostly on business, very much the same work ethics in each place, apart from Budapest, the cheeky ****ers stand there with their hand out for you to tip them for bringing you a pint to your table, get ****ed you scrounging little lizard.
I did Krakow a couple of months ago. Good bars n scran plus cheap. Auschwitz. Pleased I did it but dont want to discuss it. Clever little custom they have whereas if you say "Thank you" when they are taking your money for your meal they think its a tip. Well Mr. Angry here changed that however temporarily. Thieving tw*ts.
Wouldn't mind going there But we like to take in a game Probs Dortmund is next in line[/QUOTE] Had a great night in a bar sitting with a German and his fit French lass whilst the Poles were playing. Cheap beer, good company, footy on TV and a fab pair of Walter Mitties to divert ya attention from the game now n then.
One of the best things I've ever done mate was visiting them camps, fascinating and haunting. If you want cheap try a little skiing town called Brasov in Romania... FFS, middle of nowhere, ****hole, minus 40 degrees, steakhouse every night, starters, two 500g steaks, chips, desserts, two bottles of wine and a tip... £8. Bosh. I'd rather die than go back there, I flew with Toilet Airways, my seat literally fell apart when I sat down, I was convinced of certain death.
Was on my bucket list and didnt know what to fully expect but the guide was superb. Like you say fascinating and haunting. Birkenau very eerie. Why do they never ever mention the Russian camp or have trips there?
I've been to Brasov. Did you not stay in the old town? Its beautiful! Mind, I went in the summer and it was boiling. Fantastic place, really friendly people. Better than Bucharest where everyone is rude, mad and you have to dodge the wild dogs on the street!
Mate, your Eastern European experiences sound very different to mine! I've had a cracking time in all those places (apart from Poland, not been there though I've got a good mate from Poland)
middle of nowhere, ****hole, minus 40 degrees, steakhouse every night, starters, two 500g steaks, chips, desserts, two bottles of wine and a tip... £8. Bosh. Sounds nice to me
It was December mate and I was on business working outside, cold like I've never felt before. I stayed in Bucharest too for two nights, but I didn't leave the hotel cos it looked like an absolute dump in the taxi on the way in. Brasov was a very picturesque place for sure, but I don't really care when it's that cold and there was beggars everywhere! Prague was brilliant, as was Budapest mostly and Kraków was ok, like I said the Labour Camps was probably one of the best things I've ever done, certainly not the worst places I've been. The worst place was a ****hole in Poland called Jaslo, absolutely **** all to do and full of oddbods.
Been to Prague a few times. One of my favourite places. Bars, sh*tloads of them as well, are superb. The beer is good and strong. Scenery superb. Wonderful place.
Hey mate I'm beach man And steak man Incedently tonight I had lovely steak two pints three bottles red Watching footy with one eye
I like my steaks and theres a place near Billy,The South Causey Inn, does a decent quality and size steak. Worth a visit
