Getting booked for things such as removing your shirt, celebrating with the fans, taking free-kicks too early, moving forwards before a free-kick is taken and for contesting decisions are ridiculous. I really hate this "unsporting behaviour" rule. It's called showing passion which the corporate dick sucking authorities like FIFA, UEFA and the FA are doing all they can to suck out of the game. Ok if you are persistent and fail to heed all the warnings you are given, but refs are way too card happy at times. Yellow cards should be for bad challenges, cynical fouls, persistent fouling, diving and handbags.

I didn't realise until today that Bayern Munich will be without 3 key players for the final due to yellow cards! If we can get Cahill and Luiz sorted for the big day , that puts us on a more even footing!

3 players banned on each side for yellow cards. Let all 6 play and may the best team win.

Champions League final UEFA rejects final suspensions pleaApril 26, 2012

UEFA will not change its rules to allow the six suspended Chelsea and Bayern Munich players to play in the Champions League final despite appeals for clemency from international players' union FIFPro.

UEFA has stood firm over the suspensions for those who picked up their third yellow card of the competition in this week's Champions League semi-finals, despite the appeals from FIFPro.

A UEFA spokesman confirmed the decision on Thursday: "The regulations of the competition are established at the beginning of the competition and remain in place for the duration of the season.

"Any changes to the regulations for the future would need to be proposed by the club competitions committee and approved by the UEFA executive committee."

Six first-choice players will miss the final on May 19 due to yellow card suspensions - three from either side. Chelsea will be without Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Raul Meireles, whereas opponents Bayern will be lacking Holger Badstuber, David Alaba and Luiz Gustavo.

Earlier, FIFPro had appealed for UEFA to allow the players to appear in European football's biggest match of the year, insisting it was unfair for players to miss the occasion due to cumulative yellow card suspensions.

FIFPro spokesman Simon Barker said: "Anybody committing a serious offence in the semi-final should be awarded a red card and miss the final. But the offences that result in a yellow card do not justify the serious punishment of missing the match of your life.

"For example Alaba slipped over and gets the ball kicked against his hand - it is not right that such a player should miss the Champions League final because of this. Some people say that this will give players the license to kick all and sundry during the semi-final, but that is utter nonsense. Any serious offence will result in a red card and that still means exclusion from the final.''

Fuggin rediculous surley common sense should prevail, im sure 90% of football fans around the GLOBE would want to see the best players on offer

That's completely correct. As usual EUFA refs manage to decide the outcome of matches more than the bloody players !!! What kind of arrogance do these refs have to yellow card a player for a really minor incident KNOWING they will then miss a final. Just shows ALL refs are egomaniacal show ponies.

One saving grace is that Bayern have lost 3/4 of their back four (I think)!

Dermott Gallagher was on talk sport saying that if he were reffing he wouldn't be aware of who was on yellows or not and wouldn't want to know in case it influenced his decision. I can't see this at all, surely he'd be aware?
