That's what should have happened though, if we had Lucas in that role he would have come across to cover and Valencia would not have had a free run at the center backs.

  2. There was bound to be more space as we didn't have FBs. That's my point. What he said was fine but he used yesterdays game (where there was bound to be more space to exploit as we had a back three rather than four) to back up his claim. What he should have done was show a couple of our previous games to prove his point before showing how Man Utd exploited it yesterday.

I'll have to try and find a picture but it showed Lovren practically next to Skrtel, trying to make the same player. There was no need for him to do that - he should been closer to Moreno to prevent the run into the space.

Agreed that a half decent DM would have ushered Valencia out of play or back in-field.

which is why he's an f'n muppet.

he needs a few slaps... even balotelli tried to tekk him what to be doing.

that miss v de gea was PAH-thetic... his first was stupid too. at least fire the god damn thing high if you are going to shoot near post!

honest to god he's got a lovely collection of misses built up now for someone to do a you tube video.

Bit harsh there mate. 19 year old playing up front and in unfamiliar position, against the in form keeper in world football ..

I agree that he should be doing better but the encouraging thing is that he was getting into those positions and he was leading the press. I've not seen this type of performance since we beat Spurs.

IF we continue to play like this, then we're going to win more than not IMO.

I agree, he had little or no support and did look up for help when he was in the box and found himself alone, he also set up Balotelli for that shot. We shouldn't be using him as a scapegoat (MITO) imo as he's one of the few running his ass of for the cause. Yes he needs to work on his game but looking at his progress I'm happy that we have a very good player who will get better and better with the right people around him.

Clear yellow, was all over RVP but I thought the ref had a good game overall, cant say the same about the linesman though, you guys should have been 1 0 down at HT obviously.

RVP helped him by just getting on with it and shaking his hand but yeah that could have been a yellow

True, but then Scholes was never a DM either, and he managed to make about eight tactical fouls every game ;)

Seriously tho', even if Gerrard is playing out of position you'd expect him to be able to pull off a tactical foul when needed. If you still had Suarez and played him at DM I reckon he'd have wrestled RVP to the ground. Then eaten his face for good measure.

  16. I actually agree with MITO here. Sterling is only nineteen and was played out of position but that didn't discourage him since he got into good positions several times and could have easily had a hat-trick.

As an attacking player, he should better at finishing than he is. Being played out of position doesn't matter when you have a chance to score, you could those changes no matter what position you're playing. Missing the "gift" chance was criminal, he just didn't want to use his left!

Last season he probably would have scored that. It's probably partly the lack of composure from being young, under pressure and in a team not playing well.

  19. I'd agree on the pressure part, he's carrying a big burden this season. Only thing is, he never seem comfortable in front of goal last season either imo

Our wingers offered no defensive support whatsoever. Young and Valencia both being wingers by trade could basically play how they normally do as they know it's one v one the whole time. Just laziness.
