The thing i like about the Yak about from the scoring goals bit is when he deliberately runs into defenders and knocks them over Watch this to see what i mean
You're right that won't work. I would keep the same formation actually but a winger is required no doubt. I see no reason not to have Gallagher on one wing but we have needed a proper and decent winger for quite some time (at this level). Those 3 players you mention all want to play through the centre and I'm afraid it's not a good idea for Sven to accomodate them all at the same time just because he likes them all as individuals. If only we had kept Gradel...
N'Guessan's only problem was he used to run through people ad then realise he'd left the ball behind him
Apparently Yak has now agreed to the move and Everton are slowing the move down trying to get additional terms into the contract. That backs up what Stringer said And West Ham are trying to sign him now. I cant see him going there over here as he already likes it here and will can match or better them on wages http://www.nsno.co.uk/everton-news/2011/06/west-ham-join-yak-race/
Apparently West Ham are trying to sign Yakubu too. I would be disappointed to see him line up against us next season but I don't want to get into a bidding war and see the wages go through the roof. http://www.nsno.co.uk/everton-news/2011/06/west-ham-join-yak-race/? Are West Ham likely to be able to pay more? Are they a better bet for promotion?
They have parachute payments and money about to come in from a few high profile sales and a progressive, if a little football knowledge limited, board I wouldn't be surprised to see them match our bid - The trouble with pitching against London clubs is players are young men, many young men see living in London as an added attraction to a club. That could work in West Ham's favour
I doubt West Ham want Yak. He isnt sort to hoof ball that Big Sam will play. Its probaly his agent making it up to get Yak more wages
It's funny how you can be non-fussed about signing a player until someone else wants him then you suddenly want him! Although, to be fair, I wanted him all along. Proudfox, I didn't see you post the West Ham thing 3 hours earlier than me. Sorry.
Stourbridge - I wasn't bothered about getting the Yak until I heard we might be signing Ched Evans instead!
Be interesting to see how West Ham's approach sways his intentions (if indeed the approach is even real ) If he opts to stick to his word and join us, then we'll see that he's committed to our cause and wants to plays for us. If he opts for the Johnny-come-lately Hammers for a bigger pay cheque, maybe he wasn't that committed to us after all?
The formation we used last year was a compromise IMO. We didn't have solid enough central midfielders to play only two, we didn't have enough quality on the wing to employ 'proper' touchline hugging wingers, and we lack a goal threat up front. The Yak could be a good signing, but only if we get the right players in to support him. He doesn't work hard enough for 90 mins to be the focal point of a formation. If we get him, we need someone quick buzzing around him, which means two up front, which means playing a 4-4-2. Som IMO, if we get The Yak, we also need to get a combative Savage-like cm, wingers x2, and an additional, quick striker. Would Nugent and The Yak work? I can't see Emile and The Yak playing together, they would be too static.
According to the mercury Yakubu isnt keen on playing in the championship now. Sven needs to tell him to make his mind up because he is wasting our time
Yeh, NOW he's not keen on playing in the Championship? What have we been pissing about at for the last month then? Nobody in the Premiership wants him. I say if he's not made his mind up by the weekend he can forget it, we can always go after Maynard, in fact I'd prefer him.
