Well Charlie - whilst I haven't actually made that assertion anywhere I suspect he probably is - and this would be my rationale. I've seen Sigurdsson play on numerous occasions (for Reading and latterly Swansea) and have been very impressed by him overall. He is technically very gifted as a footballer and also weighs in with an above average amount of goals from midfield. On a personal note I also put him in my fantasy football side on his arrival at the Swans on loan from Hoffenheim last season, purely on my recollection of his time at Reading combined with the fact that he was a real bargain in cost terms - his form was largely responsible for a late surge from mid-table obscurity that, alas, just fell short of winning that particular FL. It was therefore no surprise to me that he was a 'hot potato' over the close season in terms of a 3 way transfer tug-of-war between Liverpool, Spurs and the Swans and that Hoffenheim were able to demand a pretty hefty transfer price. personally, I was disappointed that he did not continue with the Swans, not least because the competition at Spurs is incredibly tough and I did wonder whether he would be a regular starter - given that Steven Pienaar had not been able to command a regular starting spot despite being an excellent player as he is now showing again at Everton- but with players such as Bale, Lennon, Dembele, Dempsey, Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone et al, competition is incredibly fierce. I also think he has been very good this season when ever he has been given more than just a cameo appearance. For the above reasons, I suspect him to be a better player, at this point in time, than a young lad who appears to have made one Capital One Cup appearance for his parent club together with one game on loan at Southampton in the Championship - but you appear to have a differing bank of knowledge in terms of comparing the two and, as I said above, I am intrigued to know more - so perhaps you could accommodate?
1 thing I remember from his time at Reading is when we lost 2-1 to Reading where Matt Mills got the late winner for them. Siguardsson got the first, absolute class goal. First touch was world class then he just chipped it over Conrad Logan You could see then he was a class player. There is too many players in his preferred position at Spurs so he is getting shoved out wide
