Pav was nowhere near a flop mate. May not have been the most skilful of players but few could hit a ball like him. 42 goals in 112 games was well worth the £13m we spent.
Robbie Keane for Liverpool. Andy Carroll for Liverpool. Lazar Markovic for Liverpool. Dejan Lovren for Liverpool. Mario Balotelli for Liverpool. Christian Benteke for Liverpool.
Paulinho and Soldado have to be ours. Weirdly enough, whenever we spent/ spend big on a player they often turn out ****, we do far better either blooding through our own or buying cheap. Bentley is another. That was the most disappointing one for me, he looked great at Blackburn and stupidly enough I believed in the "Next Beckham" hype. Just went completely down the pan with us, although he did score one incredible goal against a certain side, that alone was worth about half his fee
The funniest thing about the Bentley deal was that we got some money from Spurs as part of the sell on clause from Blackburn What about Adeybayor ? Always had the potential to be a big star, but his ego was bigger than his ability ultimately.
Veron is always seen as a utd flop but I thought his football intelligence was way ahead of those around him We had a great team and he didn't fit as an individual
He was amazing the season we loaned him from City but then when we signed him on a perm he was **** under AVB. Although, while he was frustrating, AVB ****ed up so many players that it wouldn't surprise me if that was partly why Ade never reached the levels of that loan season. He picked his form up again when Sherwood came in for that short spell. No doubting Ade was a class player on his day but he only seemed to play well when it best suited him - IE looking for a new club/ contract.
