It's been confirmed Chris Rea is on his way home in his car, not long to go now.

Ok - it's December. You can talk about Christmas if you really have to.

My parents are always the worst to shop for. My mother doesn't like/want anything. My father buys everything he wants.

Wife done. Kids mostly done. My siblings already planned. Office white elephant gift already planned, just need to pick.up.

Xmas shopping almost complete... I get to kick my feet up for Advent.

Got my advent calendar on the go

The doors are all shaped the same as the choco treats behind them though which kind of defeats the point and ruins it <wah>

There aren't even any pictures behind the doors either, just the chocos

Bought some new outside lights today, getting tree and putting decs up next weekend after collecting my daughter from Uni, she loves putting the decs up so seems a bit unfair to do it without her.

No different concept. White elephant is more fun than secret santa.

Everyone buys one gift. (Can be silly or serious). Wraps the present and adds it to the pool.

Everyone draws a number (1 to however many people there are).

Whoever has #1 selects any present from the pool and unwraps it.

Next whoever has #2 picks a present. They can either steal the present that #1 selected, or open a new present from the pool. If #2 nicks #1's present #1 then selects a new present to unwrap and keep (at least until it gets stolen).

After 2 people have gone it can get more interesting.

#3 has the option to steal from #1 or #2 (or select a new present from the pool). If #3 steals from someone, they get the option of getting from the pool OR stealing from someone else. So #3 can steal from #2 and #2 steal from #1...

In any round same gift can not be stolen more than once but next time someone is up it can be stolen again.

It can get pretty amusing if there is one present everyone wants and it gets unwrapped early.

In my office the boss always brings in an extra gift which is given to whoever has the most stolen gift (to try and encourage people not to buy crap gifts)

Ah right sounds a laugh if you get right people and decent enough gifts. Be pissed if brought a decent present and then you end up wth something ****.

So ideally you want to be last on the list

    several potential pitfalls.

    1. if a man in an office of women (ahem he for example) you will most likely end up with some crap gift. a smelly candle or ladyshave

    2. if you get an average gift and were first to pick you get to watch everyone else open theirs and will not be stolen
might as well go home like.

    3. imagine being the one who picks out the laptop and it gets stolen then you have to open another and get a spiraliser?

I reckon it should really be played on a budget

Never had outside lights before (since moving out of parents house) as I lived in a terraced worth no front garden. New house has a front garden so...

It usually is a good laugh.

1 does actually happen. We're fairly evenly mixed but there are occasionally girly gifts. I luck out with something decent each year, but if I got something girly I'd give it to the Mrs.

    2) Best thing that can happen if you're #1 is to get something average. No one will steal from you and you don't end up with something bad. <laugh>

    3) Noone gifts a laptop. We have a gift range of $15 to $25. So it's not anything big, and you're not going to end up with vastly mismatched gift prices. It's more for the fun of it than anything big.

It usually works out pretty well... But we have pretty decent coworkers. Always a laugh. I don't think anyone has been too annoyed with the results.

I'm bringing in a cheapo portable space-heater this year (our office is always freezing cold).
