I've realised that to get to this park and ride by train from Sheffield, I need to go through Huddersfield. I think the spectacle of a couple of hundred City fans drinking in Huddersfield then getting the train out to the service station would be brilliant, and really point out the absurdity of the situation. As it is though, this really isn't good enough and the club should either try again or reject the tickets. I'm not impressed by Karl Turner touting this as a success either, it's anything but.
So do Goochie and Mussie (who I believe both live in Hudds?) have to go out to Hartshead Moor to go back to the stadium? And I would have to travel in the wrong direction to get to the game?
They can go fcuk themselves. How will that stop people from boozing in Huddersfield???? That pretence was all bollox, it's all about the police having control and stopping people when it causes them inconvenience. We need to keep the pressure up! Extra 200 tickets??? WOOOPIE-FOOKIN-DOO!!
That's not what we've wanted at all. It's still not independent travel and we've only been given 200 more tickets. Sod 'em i say.
So now we can drive to hartshead.. then escourted like criminals into huddersfield and the ground.. reject all the tickets to be honest..
Huddersfield Ticketing Update: Having spoken with both clubs, West Yorkshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Craig Guildford, said: “We have listened carefully to the concerns of fans and those who have raised concerns on their behalf. We have worked together collectively in modifying the transport arrangements which will promote safety in line with our collective responsibilities. “Suggestions have been made which we have discussed in detail and incorporated into the policing plan. Consequently the transport arrangements have been modified to facilitate free parking in West Yorkshire for fans wishing to travel independently. This will be at the Hartshead Moor services between junctions 25 and 26 of the M62 and will be stewarded by Hull City officials who have agreed to provide tickets at the services on the day to Hull City fans who reside outside the area. Once they have collected their tickets, those fans will be taken to the ground on buses provided by Hull City. Local arrangements will be made to accommodate a small number of Hull fans who live in Huddersfield and for those who have already purchased train tickets. “As before, disabled fans will be able to make the normal travel arrangements they would make for any game with the normal level of support and assistance. "We continue to work closely with both Huddersfield Town and Hull City with who we have had productive and supportive talks this week. “Throughout this process we have endeavoured to balance flexibility with the safety risks West Yorkshire Police have associated with this fixture. This match is taking place during the busy Easter weekend and the Police have a responsibility to ensure safety on the day for football supporters and other members of the public in the Huddersfield area including those who live, work and visit the town centre.” West Yorkshire Police maintain that policing higher risk fixtures later in the afternoon increases the likelihood of disorder over a longer period of time and impacts upon policing the night-time economy. Hull City believes its travelling support is overwhelmingly well-behaved and good-humoured, and doesn’t pose any material risk of this nature. Hull City further stated: “This is not the ideal solution for the club or its fans. However, with a further increase in the ticketing allocation to 1,700, we believe this is the most practical and safest solution available to ensure that the team enjoys its usual travelling support in an important game. Tiger Travel will depart from the KC Stadium, and will be stopping at both Goole and Ferrybridge services en route to the rendezvous point at Hartshead Moor services. Timings will be released in due course.” Any fans with special circumstances surrounding this fixture should contact the Ticket Office on 01482 505600, between Monday 4th March and Thursday 8th March. Please note that due to Saturday’s fixture with Birmingham City, we will not be able to assist with this until Monday 4th March. Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson, said: "I am pleased everyone involved in this process has worked constructively to allow us to find an accommodation, while keeping safeguards to ensure wider safety." Tickets for this fixture will now go on sale to season pass-holders on Monday 11th March, and are priced at £29 adults, £19 seniors (over 60s) and full-time students, £12 under 16s, and £10 under 8s. Further details on ticket sales will follow.
Just seen the release on the FB page, which includes the following: "... Local arrangements will be made to accommodate all number of Hull fans who live in Huddersfield and for those who have already purchased train tickets..." Any fans from Hull have to travel to the services where they will be allocated their match ticket by a Hull official. It is arguable that this is worse for fans from Hull than original plans.
A total boycott of the game as a last resort would cause the biggest embarrassment to the WYP as it would result in a large loss of revenue for Huddersfield Town who would then blame them. The cost of policing would also be wasted with no opposition fans to police. The only downside would be lack of support for City, but such an action would really shake up the FA and bring heavy pressure on WYP as well as sending out a message that supporters won't be pushed around.
So you can still drive into Huddersfield and spend a few hours drinking over lunchtime before going to Hartshead Moor in time to get the bus. What a bunch of wallys. Won't be there, working that day.
I was all set to go, but not with all this ****ing around. If gates are own cos of the local plods, so be it.
1700 tickets ? yeah right. Only 2300 left to issue FFS. With all the fuss over this i wonder if we shall sell even 1000 tickets ? With it being a Live tv game i would think many will now save all the hassle and Boycott it IF Hartshead becomes the final option. This is a small step but bigger ones still need to be taken. If the WYP cannot handle things better then stand them down and bring in a force than can handle big crowds. ffs.
Some will still travel. I'd love a total boycott, but the club doesn't look like it'll take a stand with the fans.
Even the threat of a total boycott could have a significant effect by bringing Huddersfield Town FC into the argument on our side and therefore completely isolating WYP.
Apart from the fans who have not missed a game in years Yes A Boycott should be made. City should demand the full allocation or just a few for the few, imo.
I think Huddersfield fans are on our side anyway. They don't like the restriction West Yorkshire Police put on their local matches, which could make them a lot of money. This could even split the fans further. We all hear about whose a "proper fan" and whose a "poodle", "part timer", "scarfer". I wonder if it'll be "scab" for anyone who goes.
Huddersfield Town have been involved since day one and have backed us completely, if anything, they've put more pressure on WYP than we have. Their supporters groups have been bombarding WYP, they've made freedom of information requests from the police and from Kirklees Council and the club have done the same.
