    Morning All,
Wow, what a night! Despite the late return home, I am absolutely buzzing!!
Where to start... a crowd of 3,700 really made themselves heard, about 4 or 500 from PNE I would say and the atmosphere was immense in the away end, apart from the spell between Wycombe's third goal and HT.
Real end to end stuff with no great concern for defending from either team from start to finish! The 1st goal looked a bit scrappy, but the second was a nice flowing counter-attack move and finished off well! I have to admit, at that stage I thought we would roll them over! their best player was the right winger, and he was already causing trouble beating Conor time after time after time... WWFC then got back in to the game from a free kick spilled by AA and put away by Ainsworth. Then a bit of controversy as WWFC got a pen... to me right in front of it, it seemed that Conor got enough of the ball. 2-2. PNE were well on the back foot by then and I have to agree with Brownie taking Conor off. He was having a torrid time! Its all part of the learning curve, and I am sure he will come back and be stronger for it on Saturday. To be fair, I am not convinced that Gray particulalry did a job on the winger, more that he seemed to run out of steam a bit and his team mates couldnt get him in to one on one's so regulalry. 3 2, dreadful defending from a corner. All a bit worrying and I was starting to think it would be one of them nights. time after time we looked all over the place on set pieces, and the amount of times that we were beaten in one on one's was scary with the whole back four and Grezza guilty. That HAS to be addressed.
Second half, PNE got a bit more of a foot hold in the game but I have to say for the forst 15mins I could see nothing but a Wycombe win and 4-2 seemed to be the ominous scoreline!! Then a period of really good pressure was rewarded with two great goals, Humey finished smartly one on one, and then Mells smashed one in to the roof of the net after great work down the right by Gray/Coutts(?) sending the travelling army wild!!!
I wasnt lucky enough to be at Leeds last season, so this was incredible!! Dont think my nerves could take it week in week out, and whether we actually deserved to win is debatable... that said, we DID win, 7 straight wins, 2nd in L1 with a game in hand, and MoM Mellor and Humey upfront are always gonna get us goals.
I think the big test now will be Saturday. This looks like a real banana skin, we are suddenly up there and that brings a new pressure and Orient are bottom albeit playing a bit better the last few games. Come out of that one with a result and I think we can really believe that we can be consistent enough to take an automatic place. Yes, there will be tougher games against the likes of Charlton and Hudds, but it is not those type of matches that will see us promoted it will be winning week in week out against the so called "lesser" sides, where the others will fail at some point...

Well it wasn't a boring 0-0! I think you called it right. Wycombe reproduced the energy and commitment from Saturday, but not the organisation, which tells you that PNE have a better attack than Sheffield United. I thought the game changed after Preston's third goal; until then Wycombe looked capable of scoring a fourth, but then Preston had a good 15 minutes, which turned out to be enough. Disappointed not to get a point, which I think we deserved, but it looks like you will have a very good season.

    Afternoon smith_pne.....:)..:)

Great summary of the game and as far as I can see completely unbiased and telling it how it was..<ok>

You cant buy that entertainment in M@S at any price..<laugh>

Being an exile in that neck of the woods has it's compensations eh!!. So pleased you enjoyed the game along with all the rest who were in attendancet, both Northenders and the Chairboys. PNE continue their run of wins and the Wanderers will take a lot of heart from the game and start moving up the league.
One of those football quirks that Wycombe have yet to beat PNE in a League game, but better give them a wide birth in any future finals..:)

I feel that Phil Brown has to stay with Gray and Smith as the two fullbacks now, they are genuine fullbacks and C M will come again after recovering his confidence which must have been badly dented after being given a torrid time. Parry can be used further up the field to great effect I think.

Same again at Orient hopefully and maybe another great match report from the Smith lad..<ok>

    :)

Great to get on so well Rocky, the water coming out of the Chairboys taps must come from the same place as that which comes out of the Northendeds taps..<laugh>.
