Anyone remember Jay Simpson? He was on loan to us from Arsenal 2009/10 season and scored 12 goals. He banged in 25 for L Orient last season and still only 27 and will be in the right budget bracket for us. Was it Kevin Phillips who said strikers will score goals whatever the level?
Are the other players providing the right service for Washington? If we had a Jamie Vardy would we be playing the ball to his head or over the defenders head for him to run on to? If we had a young Lineker, would we be expecting him to be able to play outside 12 yard box or would we play to their strengths? And what if we had a young Ian Wright? What sort of service would he get? I would like to see Washington given more time for 2 reasons - (1) we cannot afford to let another million pound signing go for peanuts and (2) let's judge him after he's given a run in the first team in his preferred slot, and playing in a system he feels comfortable with. I don't want Washington to join us as a goal scorer, not live to his potential with us, and then move on and become a goal scorer elsewhere. SLF and JFH should, as former strikers be able to guide him and teach him a few skills (although the basic one is head and shoot and score). Whilst he may have missed a sitter against WW last night, aren't the friendlies a chance for the players to improve on their fitness, and get used to playing again. And I am glad he at least got into the box to fluff the header than not be anywhere near to where he should have been positioned
All true, they do all want him.Ridiculous money,he may well score 20 odd goals this season, but for that money and given his age it's a big no from me. I'd rather we gave a chance to a young less established striker, someone who if he works out can either play for us in the Premier League or someone who we can sell on for a profit. It's the way forward !
i think jay simpson is a good shout hes another paul furlong him and nakki wells from huddersfield would be great
I'm just thinking about our signings in this transfer window. Bidwell, Borysiuk, Lynch and Cousins. All injured.
I remember Jay Simpson from Arse. I thought he was okay but was he not the one who was either lazy or had a bad attitude? Am i getting mixed up with Jay Bothroyd? Funnily did they not both play for Arse and Cardiff as well as us?
Good innit ? Only Ariel's is a long term one though,Bidwell and Lynch are supposed to be in the squad for the Burton game !
JFH said that Cousins just has a niggle and it was just precautionary, also that JET has nothing wrong with him and his substitution had nothing to do with any injury. Hopefully we won't pick up any more injuries before the season starts, excuding Gladwin that is.Nothing serious, just enough to keep him well away from the starting X1 !
Anyone else feel depressed at seeing the name "Sandro" listed? Can't we just cancel his contract and make him a free agent so he can sort out another club on his own time and without us funding it? Also says a lot that the lad Manning can't even make the starting line up.........he was supposed to be a prospect a few years ago.
And Tosser,I though we'd managed to out him. Manning was meant to be an up and coming superstar when we got him,Arry never played him once and he slipped into obscurity.Poor lads confidence is probably shot to bits, never given a chance to prove his worth like many befor him. It's the QPR way don't you know !
These games are coming thick and fast. I'm guessing Sandro is playing to prove his fitness to prospective mugs buyers, which almost guarantees that he will get a long term injury in his head. Manning played a couple of days ago, I reckon it's just a bit of rotation.
Just read on Beeb website that Police cancelled PSV v West Brom game due to potential violence by PSV fans.......at least our game with them went on behind closed doors. Maybe it's time to stop these pre season tours if games are forever being cancelled like this?
well all of jimmy floydes latest signings are all a waste of because we are already strong in those departments, but WE DONT HAVE ANT STRIKERS OR WINGERS JIM THERE IS LIFE ON THIS PLANET BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT JIM PLEASE SIGN A STRIKER OR TWO VERY QUICKLY AS THE WINDOW IS GOING TO SHUT
Wishful thinking I'm afraid. Was on his way to Portugal until he failed his medical. Quelle surprise.
