Cup gate receipts are split anyways so we will make a decent amount even if we didn't sell many. Assuming Chelsea bring a decent amount too of course.
Hardly an incentive for Cardiff, an away game at Scunny! The football gods could not have been more unkind than allowing the Blue few a great chance to get a good drake and shaft us at the same time. This board will be invaded with Sags later if this happens
But then if The Gas go to Stamford Bridge and get flattened 9-0, who would begrudge them the occasion ?
Which one of us is on TalkSport right now 12.23 talking about this farcical draw. Loving the reference to it as the Coca Cola cup though!
Lets face it, we are hardly a prime draw for Chelsea so the stadium would probably be half empty so we could probably have as many as we can sell...
Watched the 2nd half of the game - considering what was at stake, the Gas weren't very fired up and Cardiff were pretty **** as well, crap game all round in fact. Screamer of a winner in fairness though... For ****s sake, Scunny away and they get Chelsea.... Who invented these bollocks rules....
Was bound to happen- Double incentive- Win and you get Chelsea, better still..City dont. Draw shouldnt have been allowed to happen until after this game was played. One advantage is that we have a better chance of beating Scunthorpe than Chelsea, though with our record in this competition, I can guess what will happen!
Both team absolute crap. Cracking goal by lines. Amazed Maty Taylor is still there. Certainly looks a goalscorer.
Sucks to be the seeded team I guess.. The blue few are trying to rub their noses in it but I think an easier cup tie means we can focus on the league. Can I also say what an amazing turn out for the blue few, just 3800 fans if you exclude Cardiff numbers.
I see nothing bad in this. A sound performance at Stamford Bridge would bring our players into the spotlight, and its not really necessary this early. Its a no win tie, and we can save it up for later in the competition at Old Trafford or The Emiraites (or even Ashton gate). Ultimately the Football League Cup (as some of us still prefer to refer to it) doesn't have the attraction of old and should be largely ignored
Was anybody interested enough in the rebranded EFL cup prior to its commencement to notice this anamoly?
Doubt if we will get past Scunthorpe with our record- LJ has said game falls in between Newcastle and Villa games and league is more important. I would tend to agree. The last thing we needed was to be playing Chelsea in between these two games.
I watched about half an hour and Cardiff were by far the better team but failed to get a shot on target. Rovers looked like a park team. Couldn't control the ball or pass to a team mate. Hope Chelsea field a full strength team and put 20 past them in R2 !!!!!!
