Agree. Rio should just accept it, and get behind teh team like the rest of us fans, and if he still feels sore about it afterwards then talk it up.
He does seem to be coming across as a big of a whinger. Probably best to keep him out, especially as he's past it.
How can Terry's inclusion be a positive thing for England. Some people have some very strange logic. If anyone can explain why Terry's inclusion is a good thing and Rio's is bad then i am all ears.
I dont think Terry should be there either - but including Ferdinand for that reason doesnt make any sense.
He maybe a racist, wife cheating son of a thieving mother and drug dealing father, but he is still a good professional. As long as everyone keeps their wives away from him, then it should be ok.
Fedinand still has pleanty to offer England. An experienced head who has played in many international tournaments and is respected as a great player by his peers. I don't think Rio should be included for the sake of keeping face and equality but for the simple reason that he can still provide a great defensive service. you trying to tell me that he couldn't even be considered as a backup? Here is the truth. It's complete bull**** and all Roy is trying to do is avoid an uncomforatble situation instead of showing man mangement and picking the best personel for the tournament regardless of what's happening off the field. No Micah Richards in the starting line up from day one is just plain bizzare (if not stupid). I don't have faith in Roy's decisions or his ability to manage the team when the going gets tough. Leaving Rio out considering the circumstances was never a tough decision as most views on here have confirmed.
Cant you at least see how he does before having a go at him? In the two games he has managed so far he has got it spot on - both Norway and Belgium have better technical players than England so he has reverted to a defensive strategy, conceding possession, and looking for goals on the break and from set plays - the only way England can play and have a chance.
I think it's got more to do with the FA than Woy. Gary Neville is his assistant and remember how loyal Red Nev is to Rio. If there weren't other factors stopping him, I'm Neville would have put in a word for Rio.
I've never said I know more than Merson or Graham, that's you spouting bollocks again And BTW it's Hodgson not Hodgeson . . . on the wind up ? I'm just **** stirring from the sidelines today - a la your cheerleader BADM
Professional on the pitch but not so much outside. Comparing them both, grudgingly i'll have to give JT the edge. Rio is struggling nowadays and his injuries are getting more and more regular. I think it's best that both of them are not included in the squad. This can only cause more friction.
So John Terry, racist, philanderer, instigator of the one man coup at the world cup and showing total disrespect to his manager - and the likely reason that Ferdinand has been omitted (due to the Anton Ferdinand case) is okay then ?
It's funny you say the only way England can play is to conceed possesion and play defensively until a break comes. Capello was trying to do the opposite and although he was disliked it was working well, the players were afraid to lose the ball and they were closing down quickly when they didn't have it.. All I see from Roy is an old school England who will get slaughtered from the first team who show a bit of adventure and creativity. It's all gone back to the days of being pals with the manger and Terry deciding the team. I don't think thats evolution but regression.
No - I would have dropped Terry. You also dont know why Ferdinand was dropped. He hasnt been on sparkling form for the last year or so has he?
How was it doing well - as soon as we got into a tournament we were bloody awful, and our qualifying group was easy. England dont have world class players through the team. The only way we will get close to winning is by playing like Greece.
Well then, your comment about Hodgson having the courage to omit the egotistical, disruptive players in the 'Golden Generation' doesn't really make sense if he's included Terry.
Getting rid of Ferdinand is a good start though - perhaps he's going to phase them out before the next World Cup. I hope so. All we know now is that Ferdinand has been dumped - and my view its a great decision and a brave one.
Rio was dumped because he is a cripple a la Legless King. He can't even sit on a plane for more than a few hours because of his back ffs, let alone play a string of games without a break.
I wanted a change from Ferdinand & Terry. Ferdinand is easy to leave out - he's past it. Terry is not so easy - he MAY still be the best but should be left out for all the other reasons.
