I'm pleased with this appointment. I've never been totally convinced by saggy chops, as he seems tactically niave and bails out just before times get tough.

Hodgson is an expert tactician who will be able to adapt to the team we are playing rather than relying on 4-4-2 and passion. This is something we've lacked since Hoddle.

I couldn't give a Toss who the next England manager is as we as a club have no one likely to be in his squad, for some time.
Every time recently when any of our players have been involved with England they have had their heads turned ie Mickey Gray, Darren Bent and Jordan Henderson, the latter two thought pastures new was what they needed having been involved in Mr Crapellos squad. I dont think we have a snow balls in hells chance of getting to never mind past the quarter finals this summer.

It is a sad picture to paint and suggests the problem is the lack of footballing knowledge of our fans and media. He'll be handicapped from the off. It saddens me that The Sun newspaper now reflects a majority of our public opinion.

There was no more unapproachable man than Sir Alf Ramsey who was a stickler for protocol. Loved his players but kept the press at arms length, prefarably not in the same room as them.

His reign co-incided withthe only golden period in England international football, but he used players from lower divisions (Wilson and Cohen) devised a system for his team to play within instead of what suited them. Ignored the press when they clamoured for Jimmy Greaves over Roger Hunt etc.

No player power, if you didn't fit you didn't get picked, but then national pride meant alot more in those days. My hope is Hodgson produces results and players get the message of country being as important as club.

You well may be right, **** liverpools player power, we cant do any worse than we have in the last 25 years . As Englishmen we have been let down Badly. what happened to the glory days, when national pride was utmost in our minds, too much apathy, which I am also guilty of. Roy has a pedigree saggy face has not got. I want to see an Englishman suceed, WHY NOT ROY.

This man will carry a heavy load, but he is capable of doing it, sick of Jonny forigner running our game, if he fails he will have done no worse than the others, and the powers that be can wash their hands CHEAPER.
