Not sure I get this signing but I wish him well and hope it will work out. Very talented, just not sure he suits us, perhaps used in the games where we need to be physical?.

I for one think this a great buy. We are sometimes woefully lacking when it comes to corners, set pieces or against the hoofball teams. Shelvey is strong in the air and aggressive and we need a bit of that in our defending, plus I think, without checking, he was one of Liverpool's top scorers in the Europa League and will have insight and experience he can share with the rest of the team. HJ and ML have done some great deals this week and I am sure a couple of strikers will be signing pretty soon. I ,for one, am exited and can't wait to see our new players in action.

In his book "Proud to be a Swan" by Geraint Jenkins, he referred to Micky Evans and Paul Bevan as 'two snarling rottweilers' in defence. That would suit me fine. Mind you, he goes on to say, 'whose technical bankruptcy was matched by their ability to perpetrate some of the crudest fouls ever seen at the Vetch. The bang-thud-bang treatment brought out the worst in Wyndham Evans who surpassed even his own exacting standards as a late tackler'.

This was in the managerial era of Harry Gregg when our Swans were the dirtiest team in the entire Football League by some distance. Gregg and Ron Atkinson actually had a punch up behind the stands after one game. Sigh....... happy days!! And can you imagine the look on Wyndham's face when, during the Tosh era, Tommy Smith told him to stop pussy-footing around and get stuck in!!!! I saw it all and have the fondest memories.

Seriously though, I am delighted we have moved on from all that but EVERY team needs a strong element of physicality about it and I include the likes of Barca (Ramos/Piquet) and Real Madrid in that. And we all know that the top German sides possess it in abundance. Like it or lump it, Laudrup has to find a blend of football and aggression, so I'm quite pleased with the additions of Canas and Shelvey.

    Evenin' Jacks.

Think you've done well on the Shelvey front. £6m is a good price for a young, talented, English midfielder these days.

Yeah I think pretty much all us Canaries are chuffed with Redmond. Think we've got a bit of a bargain really!
