Gunna drag this one back up because I don't know where else to put this. Just found a load of old programmes and I was looking through the 2004-05 season, had to look at the Man Utd game and who just happens to be the young man in the "Player for the future" section... Chrissy Martin! Crazy to think it's been nearly 10 years since he started in our academy!
He had his chances with us and blew them. No thanks, but I am pleased he is doing well at Derby for all that.
Pretty much my feelings Thurnby and I see he has scored again today. Looking forward to seeing the game on 20th Dec on Sky!!!
Not enough for Derby though, a late winner for Brentford. Good set of results for us really. Wolves drew, Derby lost, Forest lost, only Boro and Watford in the top 6 won.
One more poor result in the last few and you could have said the same about us, so I'm not writing them off just yet. I think we could see a top 4/5 breaking away from the chasing pack though.
Yes true, but I think Forest have not got the strength on depth that we have and have gone earlier than I would have thought. Boro's rise has surprised me a lot.
did we really get that much for ayala? i'd suggest that was pretty good business for a player who played, what, 6 games(?), and was never threatening to break into our first team. the fact he, and indeed chris martin are doing well elsewhere is no reason to be angry at our club - both players needed to move away from the club (for varying reasons) to better themselves and i for one am delighted to see them both beginning to fulfil their potential.
Who's angry? Just praising ex players that for whatever reason were moved on and are doing very well in the same division and in Danny's case will be up against his ex employers tomorrow . I think we paid Liverpool £850k .
As I recall, Ayala had quite a few problems with injuries back then which hampered his chances. Glad to see him doing well now. As for the promotion contenders, the bookies currently rank them as follows: Derby Norwich Boro Watford I think that's about right. Bournemouth, Wolves and Forest could be in contention for the playoffs, but I can't see them staying the pace for a top two place over all 46 games. Cardiff might make it back, but they have a lot to do.
He is indeed yet we still keep buying centre backs play our best right back out of position there and can't keep a clean sheet. We are crying out for a centre back pairing that can shut out the opposition because if we do go up a sound defense is vital .
Didn't we let him go because his wage demands were ludicrous? Even as a recently promoted Prem side I don't think we could afford him.
Pretty sure you are right there DH. Perhaps 'Whitebread' needed to slice his wage demands and his request was half baked!
Ffs you lot love a pun... Zak used to wear Loafers during his time at CR mingling with the upper crust .
