Aye, but for all we know it's already been half solved with getting shot of di fanti and Gus and bringing in Congerton. The right head coach appointment could be the last piece to finally push on. Congerton needs a fair crack of the whip imo. His suspected shortlist looked grand with Gus picking a few wrong players and a few right players. We know Gus' obsession with Borini held up our transfer window somewhat. Also the budget Short is releasing will have a big baring on our fortunes too. I'm trusting that we've already started correcting the problem a while back. Let's face it, this club is no quick fix. Time will tell but the right head coach in the summer is of paramount importance. We can't afford to get this appointment wrong.
This is the one for me. I like him, I think he's incredibly calm and collected, and without question the focus of the team has improved dramatically, bar the Palace game there have been very few individual errors, things that have cost us all season, that says to me a manager making people clear on what they are doing as individuals. We have better defensive shape, and actually, personally I think we seem to be finding space a lot better, finding space has been an issue for us seemingly since Reid left. Add to that his status & respect across Europe and having him at the helm in summer could help us attract a much higher calibre of player, based on PVA & the history of Holland producing real talent, would be nice to think he could attract a couple more Dutch lads (I shout Adam Mayer & Joel Veltman...). We were gone, and now we are likely staying up, yeah Gus did this but then his naivety and stubbornness almost sent us west, I can't see any reason why we wouldn't want to keep Willy in charge for one more year. His talk of retirement, however, says to me that actually, he might take his£1million bonus and add it to his nest-egg. If he does that, having saved our lives, then he will go with a wonderful place in my heart cos I really did think we'd had it. He's a good ****ing bloke, and he's a very good manager.
