In short, yes.
There are few better strikers for pure goalscoring ability. Not since SKP have we had such a lethal finisher, who terrorises defenders both in terms of ability, and more importantly, talismanic qualities.
Im talking about the fact he well and truly led the line. People would equate Sunderland with Darren Bent. People could never write us off because they knew we had this player who would ALWAYS be a threat no matter who we were playing. He was our danger-man, teams would focus so hard on nullifying his threat that the rest of the team would tend to be disregarded and allowed more freedom.
Sure we have GYan (although seems none of us are 100% sure for how much longer) but he is a flair player. Sure he scores goals and adds a better allround contribution to the team, and is as identifiable a name as Bent was, but does not have the lethal edge, or strike fear into opposing players and fans as much as Bent could.
