It's just one game Tees, and only the third of our latest regime. If we eventually go down, then so be it. But I saw so much today that suggests we won't.
The great northern footballing powerhouses ? that was 60 years ago, and our owners are living in those times with the spending. We would have been better off going down last season than having to put up with this crap, I cannot believe they have not gone out and bought a couple of even decent defenders etc. They knew how fast Lakaku is and stood off, the worry is 5 out of 6 away defeats and Man c, Arsenal etc to come, and 3-4-3 was never going to work.
I'd rather we fail reaching for the stars than be successful in mediocraty. Players need to get it into their heads that relegation is not an option. With the sort of cash coming in these days we've got more chance of winning a cup as Prem team than a Championship team.
Would relegatiom seriously be that bad? Yes. Yes it would. There is not one positive that we could benefit from. Loss of revenue for a club already in debt. Smaller crowds. Potentially loss of sponsors. Lower grade players both at the club and in visiting teams. No tv coverage so promoting the club would be nearly impossible. It would be like stepping back into the dark ages. A league we may flounder in for years. However the sad fact is. This is the position we may well be in come the start of next season. Thanks Eliss Short.
Ok I've sobered up now and I agree relegation would be a nightmare, but a nightmare that's gona be a reality in 6 months with the defence the way it is. We've had nearly 9 years in the Prem now and every one of them we've been fighting relegation ffs
We can still get rid of a load of ****e if we stay up, plus we will get a shed load of money to buy more ****e...
If we could buy 2 decent centre backs, start the season again, I'm sure we'd be fine. However, by the time the transfer window comes round I'm concerned that it will be too late for two reasons. The fact that we will be so far behind that even if we got 2 good defenders in we would have to perform and get the results to a standard of a team who are going for European football. Secondly, we will be so far behind we wont be able to attract the quality required. The fact that O'Shea and Brown are anywhere near our first team, STILL, is a sign that we have royally ****ed up. These two should have been gradually phased out 2-3 seasons ago and replaced with players who would at least have a hint of quality. They havnt, so as a result, we would deserve to go down and we would have no complaints. If we don't pick up at the very least 4 points in November, then judging by our fixture list in December, we will be seriously goosed and any transfer target will take one look at the league table and just laugh in our face.
If you'd have been relegated two/three years ago and were back up now, in Leicester's position, you'd all say it was for the best. The problem is, nobody has the crystal ball you need to see where you'd end up and you'd possibly go the other way, so without guarantees it would potentially be catastrophic. The risks far outweigh the positives, but you could benefit from going down, absolutely without a doubt, it's a possibility.
