I didn't know that. Surely with our transfer dealings over the last few years this increases our chances!
Hooper excels in one of the worst leagues in Europe for defending, the space strikers get up here is criminal, especially for any striker that plays for the old firm (well celtic now that rangers have been chucked out!). Hooper is on the same level as someone like billy sharp, or kris boyd, these type of strikers can score goals for fun if at the right club in a average league, with average defending.
Steven Fletcher: Wolves reject third Sunderland bid http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19256084 Nows our chance
£12m for Fletcher makes it even more insane we won't cough up £5m for Ade transfer fee + the money he is asking for (£5m?) plus wages. That deal is still a corker compared to £12m for Fletcher
I guess the problem with us having a wage cap is that even if we break the cap for one player like ade, it then causes an issue with other players at the club as they will demand higher wages so we're in a limited situation.
Our best hope... please log in to view this image ...mainly because there isn't a squad pic of Coulibaly yet.
Cameron Lancaster of course (which means I didn't have a clue until i clicked view image and taken to the spurs site)!
I thought we were getting round that by giving him a fat signing on fee. Hence he'd only be paid as much as our other to earners.
Can one person riot? Obika scored in the Spurs XI 6-0 win against Plymouth, but he didn't even start that game. Long, hard season for them, I think, but it's probably a good illustration of just how far down the pecking order he is, thankfully.
how much would we need to pay him in a signing fee to satisfy his demands? as i assume he expects a huge signing fee on top of the cash he is asking city to pay him
Not sure, but even a £7m signing on fee only brings the up front cost up to 1 x Steven Fletcher. We seem to be pissing around for the sake of about £5m when in reality we are attempting to sign a £20m striker for under £10m. Ps - i will riot with Boss, so don't worry about lack of participation
I really don't know where I stand on this! On the one hand, I cannot forget the spectacle of him tripping over his own bootlaces, late on against Barcelona, when Arsenal utterly humiliated themselves (and English football) in what was, quite possibly, the worst game of football I have ever seen any team play in the CL, or anywhere else. Then again, if we got him for £4m we'd be silly to say no (unless his wage demands are outlandish). Yes, we'd have to run the gamut of sneering abuse from the Arsenal wums (PESKIE would probably have to take tranquilizers to keep himself in check), but I do believe the lad has it in him to score some vital goals in the EPL. Don't think we'd get him, though, if we do end up with Ade, as I'm sure those two had at least one training ground bust up. By the way, where are people getting the figure of £4m from? Would Arsenal really let him go for so little?
